Socialism = piracy
Socialism = collective ownership (piracy)
Socialism = anticapitalism (against private property ownership)
Socialism = deception (NO one voluntarily gives up their property!)
Socialism = evil, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.
Demopublicans and Republicrats - both embrace socialism, and do not defend private property rights.
What a bunch of ignorant, uneducated b.s.!
I own properties in Europe (and here), I own companies, I have the freedom to do whatever I want - in fact, in most respect I have much more freedom there than here.
The government doesn't own my companies or properties! That's absurd.

You obviously don't understand the concept of the Constitution of the United States. Additionally, WE DON'T WANT TO BE EUROPE.
You can't convince us. Not interested. Our GNP speaks volumes about maintaining our economic theories.
Please stop trying to convince Americans that Europes ways are "right". We don't try to convience you.
When the "rights" Americans think they are owed become an "equalizing" of America, then that is socialism. When the "basics" are not good enough and people want "the best" for everyone, that is socialism.
It's a fine line and I can see where healthcare is walking that line. Some people want a public option "as good as" what Congress has and will not be happy with basic care.
When CEO salaries are capped by the government because people "feel" the figure is too high, that is socialism.
Envy drives socialism. It's the "I want what he has" mentality. Doesn't matter that he earns more, has more education, lucked out. When socialism creeps in, what matters is "he has it and I don't".
1. Bush was a liberal socialist. Obama is just more of a socialist.
2. Medicare won't be around when I retire. It is just another tax for me
3. The Vets EARNED thier healthcare. Deadbeats did not
4. Do I tell my partents that social security is for dead beats? Yes- they are liberals so they think it is okay. I don't.
5. Did I scream about national parks and roads? No they are national resources and a means of conducting commerce, not a blank check to dead beats. Both are useful. Dead beats are not useful for anything but consumption.
6. March in the streets? I have a bad knee. I don't march for anything.
7. Ignorant? The average IQ of a republican is higher than the average democrat. Democrats must be VERY IGNORANT.
Pay for all the crap you want yourself. You libs are greedy and selfish and demand that others pay for everything you want, while shirking your fiscal responsibility.
The lazy bums "argument." Thank you for proving the OP's point.
I've been hearing the term socialism about as frequently as the left threw out the word fascism when Bush was in office. I'm sure the lefties that were spouting fascism are of the can dish it out but not take it group....
That is in the future. Are you dismissing what happened in the past like it doesn't count ? We lost billions with GM and now the government has a majority stake. That is the here and NOW.
Borrowing money is not socialist. Indeed, it's about as capitalist as it gets.
When you take out a loan for a car, who owns the car? That's right. The bank. GM borrowed money from the government. Guess who owns GM? That's right.
When you pay off your loan, the car becomes owned by you. When GM pays off its loan, with interest, government ownership ceases. This is how capitalism works.
Though his examples aren't text book definitions of socialism, they are inherently socialist concepts required to be accepted before full fledged socialism reigns in.
The idea that money can be taken from some, by the government, and distributed through the populace is infact socialist in nature. The reason being, the government has no money of their own beyond what they collect from the citizens. Thus taking dollars from a private enterprise, weather that be a corporation or individual, and re-allocating that money to somebody else is infact controlling the production of the enterprise.
Plus, I would like to point out, why wont you debate my example with me? Is it because you know that the GM bailout WAS infact socialism at its finest?
I misunderstood nothing. You attempted to state that people that say "socialist" are ignorant to what that means. I am saying... stop calling people ignorant, and prove your points on their merits of the discussion rather than going after the people who raise points.

Obama assumed the role of the Board of Directors of General Motors. He then asked for the resignation of GM. He then produced a reconstruction plan for the company. I don't care if its short lived or not... thats as socialist as it gets. Thats socialism to a text book definition (See number 1 above)
No matter how you spin it, that little tid bit of history is complete SOCIALISM.
You don't agree?
GM != the means of production, so it's not even "partial" socialism.
Furthermore, GM borrowed the money. It's a loan, not a government takeover.
I'm already running late, so yes, I guess I am. Talk to you later.
