I'm so sick and tired of "government policy by litigation". Case in point is the Station Fire. While the fires are destroying habitat AND many homes, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) basically says "tough, it should be hard to clear brush which causes these fires (http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/feds-didn-129678.html - broken link)"!!! In the mean time, these mega-fires do exactly what the CBD supposedly wants to prevent, losing large amounts of habitat and wildlife! This is precisely what you get from policy driven by "fresh from grad school" students who cant see the big picture coupled with tons of litigation money from slush funds (oops, grant money). These grants decouple the rich liberal donors from CBD and the Sierra Club, so noone can make the connection between the two.

You know what all the people who lost property in the Station Fire should do? File a civil lawsuit against the Center for Biological Diversity and the Sierra Club. If CBD wants to direct policy by litigation, they should take the consequences! If CBD has the money to file a lawsuit, they should have the money to pay for the consequences they sow. *!$%, they are not even apologizing for what they do!

Agreed. We need to get these groups under control, they cost taxpayers far too much money and do too much damage. The Sierra Club et al claim to be concerned about the environment yet they clearly do not base their actions on science at all and in doing so destroy the environment and destroy people's lives. Either selective logging including clearing brush or prescribed burns is what those areas in CA and other parts of the West need but these groups stop it.

jkbatca, your only mistake is assuming that the CBD or Sierra Club give a rats azz about wildlife, forest health or water quality. They are all about control, they are "anti-human", not "pro-environment".
