Politics in the 60's vs politics now
"Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, gotta love one another right now, riiiiiiiiight noooooooow, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight noooooooooow!"
Now protests and politics are only about pushing the agendas of rich people who think they have the cash to shape the country.

I don't think all those people attending town hall meetings are rich. Come to think of it... the majority of people who voted for Obama aren't rich.
Have you checked political contributions? Look at Bob Barr's.
Or are you speaking about movie stars, talk show hosts, athletes and business mogels?

There were brawls at anti-war protests and borderline riots were common on college campus' during the sixties.
You can't pull a few hippy songs out of the air and talk about how much more divisive politics is now when politics was not just defined by music during the decade.

You obviously did not live in the 1960s. It was a decade of violence, drugs, and unrest. But I guess that is the kind of things that libs like, so it makes sense. Real Americans were on "vacation" in Vietnam, while the lefties dodged their responsibility and has a big party dedicated to hedonism. I am sure that anyone who did serve would much rather have been safe at home, having some fun, but they put their nuts on the line for thier country- thank God for guys like that. I think that the 60s generation (sans the vets), in contrast to the "greatest generation", should be called the "worthless generation".

I most certainly did live in the 60's. Yes there was violence. My point is that the protestors had true motives. They were not bought and paid for protestors and they really believed in the causes for which they protested.

The dead soldiers were killed for the illusion that Uncle Sam was going to "halt the evil scourge of communism." Communism wasn't halted. All hail China Mart. "Communist China Our Trading partners" !!!!!! yeowza ! best friends !!!! Athiests ? welllll so what ? Americans are getting cheap goods from Communist slave labor !!!! WOW. What a legacy !
Many people had the same illusion when the US invaded Iraq. "Stop them evildoers." The 60's protestors were right about the Vietnam war, and the current wars, too. The government wants you to be paranoid ! There is an ogre lurking on some foreign soil trying to hamstring your right to exist ! Keep falling for it. The rest of us know what they are up to. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
