how so?

Especially if you ignore the Iraq war - which the budgets under Bush did not include. They are included now - skewing the numbers and the comparisons. Obama was against the Iraq war from the beginning. Not going in would have saved a trillion dollars right there, not to mention the millions of lives that have been negatively impacted by such a dumb war.

Yes, we have spent a lot of money this year as a reaction to the meltdown/recession. But that is exactly when government has to spend. To not do so would be irresponsible. This is the test of Keynesian economics and it seems to be working for now, yet (bank) regulation MUST follow for a true economic recovery to hold.
O has spent more than double in 6 months what it took Bush nearly 8 years to spend. And he wants more, and he wants cap and trade which will decimate the economy. I don't call that cutting.

It's not working at all unless you call the current higher unemployment rate an improvement. Keynesian economics is a flawed theory and a failure.

As far as the Clinton cuts in the military, we had PLENTY of military might to go into Afghanistan after 9/11 and get the actual people who attacked us. No, we did not have a military to invade and occupy a large sovereign nation and rebuild it, because doing something like that would be stupid, distracting and extremely costly.
And you look over all the soldiers going in without the protective gear they should have had, etc. I know many people who served in the military when Clinton came in. Some of the cuts did such wonderful things as make it so there wasn't even enough ammo available to do proper training. New equipment wasn't available when it should have been. And this can go on.

As for an occupation, that would appear to have been required in Afghanistan, no? Iraq was stupid but Afghanistan alone required(s) such resources.

If there wasn't enough of the proper equipment, then the decision shouldn't have been made to start an unnecessary war. Bush got to choose when to start his little war in Iraq, he should have made sure the troops were properly equipped. Instead, he not only started the war without proper equipment, he didn't get the proper equipment in a timely manner after the war was started.

Complete BS. Nothing even remotely close to reality.

The economy does not know what day the Presidency changed hands. The evidence suggests that what brought us out of the Great Depression was the massive (much higher than current spending) government spending associated with the New Deal and WWII that put Americans to work. Unemployment is a lagging indicator, often the last thing to show up as far as statistics go when looking at economic recovery.

You have to be pretty ignorant to compare Afghanistan with Iraq in terms of logistics, size, population, terrain, politics, you-name-it. The main thing they have in common is that they are both not America and they are over there somewhere and have "bad people," aka Muslims. And to many Americans, that's enough.

I guess what I am most upset about is how Democrats get so derailed from accomplishing anything because we are so afraid of doing anything without the approval of Republicans (god forbid we grow a set). Republicans have had control for so long and have not managed to do one thing, not one, for the middle class. Is there anyone else that feels as disgusted as I do?
Yes, I too am exhausted and finding it increasingly troubling. What bothers me the most is that I have facebook friends posting this stupid crap. It isn't only limited to strangers in an internet forum.

I loved obama's campaign line - this is a great nation and we're going to change it.
Free speech is great as long as the president is speaking to school kids?

Me too! It's hard to look at someone the same when you find out they think Obama is a one man Kenyan socialist terrorist cell - a 40-something year plot to destroy America from within.
