I suppose this is your attempt at answering the question; however, you haven't answered the question either.
Are you upset because poor people are about to be helped?
I answered your question -- this, for me, is about being saddled by more taxes. The taxes are what upset me. We are drowning in taxes in NYS as it is. I have to take care of my own home before I can care for someone elses.
You did not answer my question: since when does poor = non white?
Health care reform is not about race, and yet some people would like to make it that way.
I don't see people pulling the "race card" over important POLICY issues (although race CAN play a part in that, too).
check your own posts. you do exactly that virtually every day.

But I do see racism in picking on Obama for totally unimportant things like not wearing a jacket in the Oval Office or encouraging children to do well in school and other minor, stupid, backwards, useless, ignorant points.....
well of course you see 'racism' in such things. you could find 'racism' in the unequal representation of licorice jelly beans in a bag of candy.

unless , of course, one IS stupid, backwards, useless, and ignorant....
well, at least you have now set forth a set of valid excuses for your racist-shrieking. right?
AND IF race WASN'T an issue....why did it take 250 years to have a President of color?
If, as repubs stupidly insist, racism doesn't exist and stopped the minute the slaves were freed then why hasn't there been a President of color until now?
i haven't seen a single person claim that racism doesn't exist.

Poor has no race, it is a state of mind.
It has been written - Care for another first, and your needs will be met.
At least 9 million are illegal, another 20 million or so choose not to but HC insurance.
I think I see where the Rev is headed - obamacare is another form of reparations.
You are right, there is a large group of people earning over $75 K and not having health care because they can't afford it but it is their own choice not to have it!

Why hasn't there been a woman as president...is that also racism?
Stop using the race card for everything....most people are too smart to listen to the racismgarbage and you don't do any favor to real racism...people are getting sick of the race card which is creating more racism.
This president managed to DIVIDE this country like never before instead of UNITING this country, and you are helping with dividing it by using the stupid race card!
Please answer why never have there been any female president?
Maybe because more man have tried to run...how many black man have run for the presidency? Why did Rev jackson have no chance of becoming the president? Not because of race but because he made a huge mistake, just like Howard Dean and that is why they never became the next president....nothing to do with race!
People who are poor for the most part lack the intellectual capacity, ability or inclination to produce much more than they need to survive, if that much. These people already have access to free or subsidized food, housing and emergency medical care. I gladly pay part of my taxes to provide this safety net. I am not willing to pay more taxes in order to increase their standard of living much beyond this safety net.
To any extent that lacking the intellectual capacity, ability or inclination to produce much more than what is needed to survive has a disparate impact on black people, it does not make it racist. Certainly the raw numbers reveal many more whites in this category than blacks.
People obvously feel as though a higher percentage of blacks fall into this category than whites as compared to the numbers of each race. But for these people to use this to draw the conclusion that this is racist is nonsense.
Very few are against providing a safety net for these non-producers. The question is at what standard of living shoud they be carried. Communism would say that they should be carried at the same standard of living as the producers. Socialism and the concept of 'social justice' would have them carried at some level in between. Of course the non-producers and their advocates would be all for this. But most of America does not want to go much further down that road.
Booker is not the one here looking stupid. Slavery did not exist during WWII.
You are truly something to behold.
Educate yourself. Display some of the "personal responsibility" that conservatives are always going on about.
Slavery was eliminated from our Constitution at the end of the civil war. It was still officially practiced until WWII. Our legal system would round up black men on charges of "loitering" and deliver them to corporations in the south (mining and agriculture), where they would be slaves until they "paid their debt." Of course, the system was designed to keep them in debt until they died or were too old to work.
And you have still not addressed the fact that the US did murder black men in medical experiments.
The Rev. Wright has earned the right to talk about this. You haven't.
