Debunked.
[1] If you really want to get into counting pronouns, there were over 130 instances of "you."
[2] 18 minutes (the length of the speech) is not the same as one hour.

The speech, and the classroom activity was chaged after parents objected.
Debunked.
[1] No proof - no link - nothing that shows an earlier version of the speech.
[2] Yes, the suggested classroom activities were changed.

Debunked.
Participation - by school, by individual class, by individual student - was voluntary. The Department of Education invited schools to watch the speech. Whether they did or not, and whether individual teachers used some, all, or none of the suggested classroom activities was (appropriately) left to local control. "The U.S. Department of Education provides resources for educators who may choose to use the president's address as a teachable moment." Source

The reason why they mentioned the controversy is the controversy was all over the place. Now, it might come somewhat hard to believe, but some high school students will actually watch the news from time to time, read a paper, etc. The controversy was everywhere and the kids thought the controversy was pretty silly and made fun of it.
They were not asked about the controversy either but that didnt stop EVERYONE of them from talking about it. Odd considering the controversy wasnt about the speech, but about the assignment itself..

Pretty sure, or positive? Considering that I've read dozens of responses from chidlren in relationship to the speech, none of them mentioned it.. Sure, obviously I havent read every response, but the failure to mention the assignment says more than had they talked about it..

He is stealing the words right out of Karl Marx's mouth.
Clearly reading and reading for comprehension are 2 different things. I believe the student was using sarcasm there.

I little further down the student wrote the following.

Quote:
Honestly, is it that bad to tell kids to try their hardest and to never give up in school, or in life?
This is a speech that should be heard by the youth of America. It has nothing but golden advice for children, giving them anecdotes of people in low places overcoming their obstacles, and making the best for themselves.

Haha, funny considering that I dont see you debating the "truthers" claim that Bush caused the WTC collapse because of a lack of proof..

Was that your best effort to explain why the classrooms did not assign the classroom activities, because it was voluntary? Really? Best you can due.. Let me use your own words.. "debunked"..

Do I even have to say it anymore?

I bet there is a reason you ignored the other 10 lines of that response, could it be you didnt like the other items said by these students?

The controversy was everywhere. Hell even after the suggested assignment materials were changed you still had people freaking out about it. Oh and that assignment was what? For the students to do the same thing Bush asked students to do in 1991

This is like fighting the Black Knight.

BLACK KNIGHT:
Oh, had enough, eh?
ARTHUR:
Look, you [expletive]. You've got no arms left.
BLACK KNIGHT:
Yes, I have.
ARTHUR:
Look! (points to lack of arms)
BLACK KNIGHT:
Just a flesh wound.

ARTHUR:
What are you going to do, bleed on me?
BLACK KNIGHT:
I'm invincible!
ARTHUR:
You're a looney.
BLACK KNIGHT:
The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then.
[whop]
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT's last leg off]

BLACK KNIGHT:
Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw.

You know what...most kids who are doing these things won't listen to any one...others are already doing the right thing...and I don't mind a president talking to students to encourage them to have respect and stay in school and make something of their life, BUT not Obama who surrounds him self with people who are radical socialists, people who would never pass a FBI security check and who has proven by his own words "look who I surround my self with, that is who I am", not to be trusted!
