Because they were caught. They knew all along that the language was there to allow illegal aliens participation.

Actually, that one statement is very curious to me. I have no idea why it would inflame the left, it certainly doesn't inflame me. I don't believe that illegals should receive government sponsored health care.

That being said, I do believe that the Dems caved again, since I certainly interpreted the original wording to exclude illegals from receiving care, just as they are excluded from receiving Medicaid, etc.


And, how does adding citizenship qualifications to this 'option' end the current situation whereby illegals are currently treated in ERs at costs subsidized by those of us with private insurance.
Since I strongly doubt that illegals will apply for the government option, how do we keep them from being treated?

Do we tell hospitals to let people die on their sidewalks?

Do we pay to ship them 'home' for treatment and hope for reimbursement?

Don't bombard them with facts. If they want to believe that the bi-partisans wording is due to Joe Wilson, let them go right ahead. Heck, they've been getting paid to do nothing all this time, might as well let them keep doing it.

There you go distorting the facts again. This is what Obama said:

"There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

He said NOTHING of adding language. He made that statement based on the single statement prohibiting federal dollars to illegals that was already in the proposed bills.

After reading your above posts, i'm beginning to think you haven't even seen the original statement in the bill. It's a one liner that leaves alot to be desired. Read it. And then read the Congressional Research Service report on how illegals can obtain federal coverage under the proposed reform.

I think you will begin to see the fallacy of your argument.
