(just as long as it's "Get Smart" TV re-runs, not the movie )

This blog with photos was mentioned earlier.
Flopping Aces » Blog Archive » 9/12 March on DC
Take a look at the second photo (below the traffic cam one of the crowd in the street)
You're looking from the viewpoint of the west Capitol lawn, looking towards the Washington Monument. (actually, from just below the Capitol steps).
The crowd is on the Capitol lawn. There is still space for more people. I've been in DC crowds where I got scared because it was shoulder to shoulder. Not the case here.
The empty space between the trees, separating two portions of the crowd, is the Capitol Reflecting Pool.
Right behind that is a small portion of lawn - more people there. Behind that is 3rd St. In the photo, there aren't many people west of 3rd, where the Mall begins. You can see where the line of people stops, then an empty expanse of Mall behind them up to the Washington Monument. The white things on the Mall before the Monument are the tents of the Black Family Reunion, as I showed in my photo in this thread.
For an idea of what I'm talking about, see washington dc - Google Maps
I'd like to see some arial photos of the crowds.

I'm sorry, but a march on DC filled with synchronized thumb-sucking, massive amounts of hot air, juvenile-themed signs, and endless whining from people who continue to show how far they have their heads jammed up their 3rd points of contact, doesn't really amount to a bucket of warm spit to me...
All these folks have offered since things began is a bunch of screaming, shouting, name-calling, half-baked conspiracy theories, endless posturing and fat-mouthing by the '3 Right-Wing Stooges (Rush 'Larry' Limbaugh, Glenn 'Curly' Beck, and Ann 'Moe' Coulter), guns being displayed at Town Hall screamfests---oops, I meant meetings ('yeah, I'm a badass...I brought my gun to a town hall meeting, that makes me look real tough and intimidating'---NOT!!)...and the crowning pinnacle of it all---a US Congressman decides to yell accusations of lying at the President Of The United States, in the halls of Congress, during a speech on an important national issue, and now some of these jamokes are putting him up as some kind of hero for basically making a butthead of himself on national TV...
In short, if this is the best they can do, just warm up the buses, fire up the planes, stick your silly signs where no sunlight lives, go home and basically shut the heck up...in the US, you ARE allowed to disagree with the President and his policies, because folks have been doing that (on BOTH sides) for as long as I can remember---that's a given...but when you star getting 6th-grade about it, then your protests mean nothing to me and others who are basically tuning you out, and trying to go about the business of getting things done...end of story

After a dozen or more posts about the protest being on CNN, MSNBC, and other "liberal" channels, it's a little late to post the above.

it is really hilarious watching the right complain about and deal with all the same stuff the left has been complaining about for years and years.

Agreed. I was in college during the late 60s-early 70s. I can remember many people complaining that some of the protests against the war were actually social events for a lot of attendees. Ditto the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons protests of the early 80s.

yeah, i went to some of the big anti-wto/world bank protests, and big anti-war protests - the free mumia people were always there no matter what, and half the flyers people were handing out were about how crappy some other faction of the left was! the maoists had anti trotskyite flyers and the trotskyites had anti anarcho-syndicalist flyers!

Great pics! What a crowd - as the cams and pics show.
Poor libs, they were looking so forward to trying to dismiss the numbers.

What "wing" are you flying with?
Do you support / oppose
[1] compulsory labor for the benefit of another?
[2] restriction upon harmless activities?
[3] private property ownership?
If you oppose involuntary servitude, you're anti-socialism (against collective ownership).
If you oppose restrictions upon harmless activities, you're pro-liberty (as in natural liberty).
If you support private property ownership, you're anti-communist.
If you're not, well, you're against the principles that founded these united States of America.
Remember, the Declaration of Independence stated that governments are instituted to (a) secure rights (life, liberty, property, reputation, etc) and (b) govern those who consent.
If you haven't given consent, and they've taken your rights away...
D'OH!
(In case you were not clear - any time you have to have government permission (license) to do anything, that's proof you're no longer at liberty to do it. Free people don't need government permission to marry, travel, own a dog, build a house, engage in occupations, operate a business, help treat their fellow men, buy medical necessities, communicate via radio, etc, etc.)

On The Contrary...Yes I Do

I am an American citizen...born and raised in Cleveland Ohio...I have given 12 years of my life to serving my country (3 yrs as a US Army Infantryman, and an additional 9 yrs as a civilian Defense Dept employee in Cleveland [Navy Finance Center in Cleveland Federal Building])
I have voted in several Presidential elections since attaining voting age in 1974...I have had issues with Presidents and their policies, both with those I helped elect, and with those I did not...
But at the end of the day, I remained an American citizen, and thus respected the office of the President, because those were the values my hard working (registered nurse-18 yrs, firefighter-33 yrs AND WWII veteran) parents instilled in me and my 5 siblings...
Having said that, it amazes me that you would question my love for America and its citizens, based on things I have said in a post on an internet chat forum...I did acknowledge the right of the DC marchers to both assemble AND to disagree with the President and his policies...I have also affirmed their rights to that in several other threads here in Politics and Controversies...
I also acknowledge YOUR right to disagree with me, AND your right to ask the question that triggered my reply...but if you think for one moment that I will back away from ANYTHING I said in my post, then your wait for that to happen will probably extend to both Hell freezing over and one day past forever...their whining and posturing (to ME) exhibits about the same degree of nerve-wrackedness as the squealing of a spoiled child after finding he can't have his way---in fact, the 2 are eerily similar
