Teen alleges discrimination by Abercrombie & Fitch - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090918/ap_on_bi_ge/us_abercrombie_lawsuit - broken link)

I generally dislike Abercrombie for their emphasis on pornography and their all-white kids marketing and previous discrimination issues. But I think that they are right on this one. if this girl will not wear their clothes and chooses to make her religion front and center, then I think that they have a right to choose not to hire her.

I agree, it will impact their business. nothing to do with religious freedom/discrimination. Would you hire a cage dancer that was a 50 year old beer gutted hairy man for your strip club? or the hot drop dead gorgeous eye candy blonde ;P

Who will bring more revenue?

the more that i think about it, the more that I think that this was staged in an attempt to sue A & F. she lives in Oklahoma for christ sakes, one of the most stubbornly Christian states in the country.

Wearing something that covers the nose is the ONLY way I could work at A & F. Perhaps she has allergies too!

They have an "image" and that sells clothes. If it were a plumbing store or a record store then maybe she has a leg to stand on. But this is a clothing store totally based on "image" of how people look.

Sorry..just move on to the next store in the mall and apply.

I'm not going to wear a tie to work anymore, my religious beliefs are that no one should willingly put anything around their neck and tie a knot in it, if my boss doesn't like it, I'll file a lawsuit

Lot's of people get denied jobs at A&F and there have been complaints before about them putting the less attractive people in the stockroom while the more attractive people get put in public positions.

I've gone around and around about this in my head and came to the conclusion that A&F can hire/not hire anyone they want. Anything else would be silly. And unless hijab head scarves become fashionable and are sold in A&F they have a right to do what they did

If she chooses not to follow their dress code, she can choose to work somewhere else. I've made lots of sacrifices for different jobs, so she can cry me a river.
