You don’t feel at any shame at all about the fact that I have to work just as hard as you, yet pay more into a system your generation broke, so you can have your SS, when there is a better than zero chance that there wont be any SS when I retire?

How old ARE you? I'm 47, and have known since my first day of my first job (at 16) that SS will never be there for me. It's a given I've lived with. Yet, I still work hard, have never been without a job, pay into SS, and don't blame the generation that caused this.
I do blame the politicians for selling us out time after time. But that's for another discussion. And something else I've known my whole life. But I still vote.

MANY Baby boomers did serve in Vietnam. As I pointed out, my Uncle was one of them BUT your generation worked HARD to insure defeat in Vietnam and the carried the day. YOUR generation failed while some in your generation tried to stand for what was right.
secondly get this thru your head, you are making this about you and you fail to see that I neither know you nor think ill of you.
It isn’t about you; it is about your generation. If you are part of it but didn’t stand with those working so hard to dismantle America, then Good On Ya!

and SS is messed up because your generation refused to fix it. the BILLIONS of dollars that was paid into the system have been spent by politicians of both parties on domestic junk and now there is no money.
AND there is only 1 way to get the money and that is to raise taxes on ME. That means I have to vastly more to support you than you paid to support the generation before you.
BECAUSE YOUR GENERATION DIDNT FIX IT.
and if SS isn’t messed up, then pray tell where is the 20 to 30 TRILLION in unfunded SS mandates going to come from????
You can tell yourself that SS is going to be there for me. I don’t care what you tell yourself, but don’t come to me with that lie. My generation has learned better. IF it is there at all it will be because we paid vastly more and we did the hard work those before us refused to do.

I am only a few years behind you and like you have known the same thing you know. That doesn’t mean we don’t have a right to be a bit miffed at the way those who came before us screwed us does it? I will take care of myself thank you very much. However, that doesn’t stop me from resenting the fact that previous generations abused this system for their own ends leaving my generation holding the bag.
I don’t know why you aren’t bothered by the fact that it could have been fixed 40 years ago in such a way that no American regardless of income, would have to retire in poverty if they needed to rely on SS.

What I own is pretty safe. I'm not really in a position to require hand outs.
There are more than a few in your generation like that.... I just wish you guys had gotten it fixed....
