A collection of Jefferson quotes, helpful for comparison between what he intended and what we have now. Sent to me by a facebook friend.

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
We shall become as corrupt as Europe.
Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those
Who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the
Government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is,
as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves
and abhors is sinful and tyrannical..
Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered..'

No they will not listen. It is not in their interest to do so. All of those eloquent quotes stand in direct opposition to their maniacal drive to consolidate more power for themselves.

It reminds me of something funny I saw on CSPAN yesterday. One of the so-called far-right small-government Congressmen was asked if the Republicans would challenge healthcare reform in court with regard to Article 1 Section 8. This person, in shock, mumbled something about being "afraid" of what the current Supreme Court would rule and that it would be more logical to reestablish a Republican majority to uphold the Constitution. All I could hear was: "EEEK, the Supreme Court might take our Unconstitutional powers away!"

None of the megalomaniacs in our government have any interest whatsoever in returning this government to its proper place. Could you imagine that they would prefer to be ruled by The States and The People when they so love their positions of power over the The States and The People? The probability of that being a choice they would make is the same as that of a slave owner choosing to switch places with his slave.

Yeah, next time look up the real quotes

Thomas Jefferson - Wikiquote

my favorite is:
  • He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions.

Even with half of those quotes being truly confirmed, one should not be surprised if the other half was thought, written or uttered by Jefferson. I especially like the tree of liberty quote, and I certainly hope that gets me on the terrorist watch list. I'm very voyeuristic and like being watched.

You justify making things up, that is, LYING.
That's all I need to know about you.
Off to the filter.

When people use filters, they've already lost the debate. I appreciate your concession.
