I realize you probably don't read links that you yourself didn't post or might disagree with but had you done so, you would have noticed the very next line.

The concern is that if the Taliban again becomes the official government, it will invite al-Qaeda back into Afghanistan. Why would we care if al-Qaeda is in Afghanistan or Pakistan? Their iPhones work equally well in either place, as they do from any spot on the planet, and we cannot occupy every spot on the planet.

In another paragraph :

The counterinsurgency manual calls for 20 to 25 counterinsurgent troops per 1,000 residents. For the sake of hunting down fewer than a dozen evildoers who are somewhere other than Afghanistan, McChrystal and the rest of the war mafia advocate escalating the force level in Afghanistan to a half-million troops.

From another article that appeared on Morning Joe:

Quote:
Embedded in General Stanley McChrystal's classified assessment of the war in Afghanistan is his conclusion that a successful counterinsurgency strategy will require 500,000 troops over five years.

This bombshell was dropped by NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC's Morning Joe on Wednesday
So much for the right complaining about spending.

I believe that we need to bring all the troops home now from both Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't want any man or woman risking their lives without a decisive Commander in Chief.

It took millions of years to produce that oil. And you expect it at your local gas pumps, like tomorrow ? It's all part of a reptilian plan. They who control the black gold control the globe. You just wait until the sun dies down, and gets colder. I imagine that humans will be living on Venus, Mercury, or maybe Jupiter will drift closer to old Sol, and people can live on one of the moons. After all, people live on earth, and I am sure that a lot of aliens way out in space simply do not believe that to be possible. I bet humans really look funny by that time.

Just an informative question for those who advocate increasing troops level in Afghanistan:
The US invaded Afghanistan, the Taliban were toppled and we went on fighting in Iraq. For 5 years we heard relatively few news from Afghanistan, while the media and administration were busy with Iraq. During these years the troop level was very low. What happened in the last year that suddenly requires so many troops? Today we have there 3-5 times more people then 3 years ago, yet they say that's still insufficient. What's this crazy talk about half million troops?

Yeah, we're just pulling in that oil every day, aren't we? Stealing right under the noses of the Iraqi's. We did the same in the Gulf War....didn't we?

What a ridiculous argument completely without any merit OR evidence.

And this is a serious answer to you? Alrighty then.

In an unprecedented intervention, the chief of the general staff described the conflict as "this generation's war" and added that failure by Nato would have an "intoxicating effect" on militant Islam.
Obama will make sure the Taliban and AQ are jumping with joy and embolden when he pulls out.

Quote:
He said: "If al-Qaeda and the Taliban believe they have defeated us – what next? Would they stop at Afghanistan? Pakistan is clearly a tempting target not least because of the fact that it is a nuclear-weaponed state and that is a terrifying prospect.
You think they won't try to infiltrate Pakistan and take down the government? Bush had them on the run, they were decimated in Iraq, they were clobbered in Afghanistan...and now, obama will let them reconstitute and realign with his disastrous FP.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/...n5362095.shtml

Quote:
(CBS) The former U.S. commander in Afghanistan, General Anthony Zinni, warned that the deliberations over whether to send additional troops to Afghanistan - as many as 40,000, as suggested by General Stanley McChrystal - should not go on too much longer, lest the debate be viewed as indecision or weakness.
Quote:
He questioned why the White House is questioning the advice of their commander in Afghanistan, General McChrystal who made the request for additional troops.
This is obama very own general, installed by him and now he is stalling, waffling, and ready to run when it comes to the nitty gritty. I have no doubt this general will resign if his request is denied and it most likely will be , for completely political reasons. Obama has neither the guts or the courage to see this through.

Exactly! Why don't people just shut up, sit, watch and wait. Ignorance abounds, so do stupid threads.
