News, Parents sue Walmart over kids' bath pictures.
PHOENIX - An Arizona couple accused of sexual abuse after taking bath-time photos of their children and then trying to have them developed at Walmart are suing the state and the retail giant.
Lisa and Anthony "A.J." Demaree's three young daughters were taken away by Arizona Child Protective Services last fall when a Walmart employee found partially nude pictures of the girls on a camera memory stick taken to the store for processing, according to the suit.

How old were the kids 15?
I don't know a parent that has not taken a picture of their kid in the bathtub when they are little, usually with bubbles and rubber ducks.

Neither parent was charged with sexual abuse and they regained custody of their children — then ages 1 1/2, 4 and 5 — but the Demarees claim the incident inflicted lasting harm. The couple is seeking undetermined monetary damages from both Walmart and the state and have requested a jury trial.

Good, I hope they take them to the bank to be honest. This is disgusting. My mother still has pictures of my brother and I in the tub as kids. Wth is wrong with people today when parents cannot even keep mementos of their childrens childhood?

I agree but on the other hand lets say the Wal Mart employee ignores it and down the road the couple gets arrested for child molestation. Next thing is they find the pictures developed at Wal Mart and the clerks face is all over the news because they didn't report it. I would imagine it's store policy that if any images of naked children are found they are to be reported to the police regardless of how innocent they may appear.
It's just another example of how out of whack our justice has become.

I understand the clerks position completely. I was speaking of the DA and friends. Why did it take them a month to figure out these people were not child molesters? I can almost bet that their names were drug through the mud in local media. How irreparable is that?

For the same reason Wal Mart is reporting it, I'd imagine these people take kids on daily basis and have to make decisions like this on daily basis. They can make 1000 correct decisions but as soon as they make one wrong decision the news will be all over them. You're not going to hear about the 1000's of other cases, just the one where a mistake was made.
Sad but one major part of society is protecting ones ass from the media and the lawyers especially if you're public official. Instead of investigating and doing real stories they take the easy road and go after the stories they can sensationalize. In sense they are creating news.

The parents should be able to sue Wal Mart and CPS both. It could have been handled quietly if someone in CPS had some common sense. This was a lack of common sense on the part of Wal Mart and CPS both though.

Why not just buy your own photo printer, they cost less than $100.
This scenario was on Law & Order in the recent past. Rather sad.

Walmart will settle out of court on this one. The law suit claims that Walmart failed to inform them of their "policy" which, given the average Walmart employee, I can absolutely believe.
The state will also, probably, settle out of court. I note that the couple have demanded a jury trial. That will allow emotions to rule over facts and emotion will definitely be on their side.
Should be a nice little earner for the couple and a lesson for both the state and for Walmart that the application of common sense is always a good thing.

Why should they have to buy their own printer? It is a sad reflection on our society that you cannot take pictures of your kids any more.
