Gallup Poll; Government doing too much
You don't say. The problem is putting the genie back in the bottle.
Americans More Likely to Say Government Doing Too Much
Belief that government is over-regulating business is at high for decade

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans are more likely today than in the recent past to believe that government is taking on too much responsibility for solving the nation's problems and is over-regulating business. New Gallup data show that 57% of Americans say the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to businesses and individuals, and 45% say there is too much government regulation of business. Both reflect the highest such readings in more than a decade.

Well I guess it would help if any members of Congress actually listened to their constituents.
Instead they listen to big business who are all lined up for government funded revenue coming from one plan or another.

The US government should get out of the war on drugs.
Stop hounding peaceful people who smoke weed.

The only poll that counts are the ones that also happened to kick the GOP out of power in 06 and into the dust bin of history last year. Too bad, so sad. Get over it.

The crazies on the right point to government intervention into an economic crisis and try and paint THAT as a "slide" towards Socialism. Which frankly is dishonest and at the end of the day downright stupid. I also have no problem with my tax money going to help my fellow countrymen get health insurance, and therefore health care, no matter what side of the aisle they are on.

That's a difference between social welfare and corporate welfare.
I don't think the government should be involved in ANY corporate welfare whatsoever.
If a corporation got in trouble, then bye-bye..see ya in court. The bigger, stronger ones will be picking their bones and grabbing the good parts.

That's why I always laugh at the endless diatribes about "Welfare Momma's" collecting checks. The tax payers give more to corporations then they ever have or will to it's civilians. They always seem to leave out this little fact: Our government provides all kinds "welfare" to corporations and has for years.
In regards to the economic crisis (which first the GOP denied endlessly, then accepted about half way through it) I see no choice. We are simply too intertwined globally. We can spend now, keep these companies propped up, while slowly unwinding the failing ones OR we can "let it fail" and watch everything deflate straight to the next depression. Which do you prefer?

I dunno..we poured billions into GM and they declared bankruptcy anyway. We're OK today and you can still go out and buy a car.
Not EVERY bank would have failed..just the big greedy ones.
IMHO I think the government would have better spent their money making sure the good banks didn't get sucked in with the big banks when the big ones fell. They were investment banks anyway and we bailed out their failed derivatives based on subprime mortgages.
We'll never know though what the outcome would have been as it's all "...what if". We are where we are and just have to deal with it.

Are you ever going to get a new shtick? Talk about "dust bin of history" and "get over it"... Try getting some new material.
