That even if you didn't belong to the party currently in power, and didn't agree with their policies or philosophies, you still considered yourself American first and considered yourself to be loyal to your nation and your leader, extended respect even to those with whom you disagreed, and certainly to the Office of the Presidency. The concept of "loyal opposition," of course, changes with the times. When a President serves the interests of the powerful at the expense of the people, for example, or threatens the Rule of Law (the very foundation of our democracy), emotions will run high. But the right-wing opposition to Obama has nothing to do with his Presidency. It is a rising crescendo of hate that started long before his actual election. Its current level of intensity therefore has nothing to do with his political philosophies. It would be understandable that Republicans might not agree with Obama's policies, or might want to enter into debate about policy or political philosophical differences. This has happened in the past. Usually respectfully. But the level of rage and vitriol hurled at our President SINCE BEFORE HE WAS EVEN ELECTED suggests something far more diseased than mere disagreement. The names the right wing call our President: "boy," "bambam," "bubba" (among others) are degrading and offensive.

One has a difficult time figuring out what exactly Obama has done to these people to warrant this level of sick hatred. Especially when you consider that it has been going on since Palin's rallies. The nastier Palin got, the more they loved her. Never, during the campaign, did Obama say one disrespectful thing about John McCain or Sarah Palin. Never. Somehow, that made him even more suspect in their eyes. In response to his respectful adherence to civility and cordiality, not only did the right wing not return the respect in kind, they became even more enraged. Their behavior ever since has grown more diseased and hateful, and is an all-out perversion of the spirit of conservatism. William Buckley is probably turning in his grave. As is Reagan. Both of those men understood civility and respect. If they were to see the way so-called "Republicans" behave today--calling their President vile or demeaning or even racist names, marching in the street with disgusting/racist signs of disrespect, bringing guns to political rallies--they would disown them. For today, the right-wing masses behave like teeth-gnashing, racist, vile-spewing trolls. Even their leaders won't reprimand them. How can they? When the leaders themselves are just as hateful, and--in many cases--have themselves engineered the hate among the base: The corrupt and often racist politicians; FreedomWorks; or Rupert Murdoch's FOX network, wherein he has been on a mission to destroy American democracy by dividing the people. And FOX's audience is obeying the dictates of this Australian porn distributor and his henchmen--Hannity, Beck, et. al. Without even pausing to think about what happens to a nation when its people are divided.

America is a democracy. There was an election. Obama won the election. In response to his win, the right wing have not rolled up their sleeves and committed themselves to respectfully work with the duly elected President of the United States. No. Instead, they categorically reject the outcome of the election, and seek to destroy the administration, even if that means destroying the spirit of American unity in the process, and even that means destroying democracy itself. It's truly sickening. And it's time for the true conservatives--the Republicans with an understanding of dignity and decorum and respect--to either publicly and strongly condemn the behavior of their party, or publicly and strongly renounce it. We cannot allow this hatred to continue.
When a poster's status reads, Impeach the village idiot, that sends a clear message that President Obama is probably the most hated president in history. Why? and why are right wingers carrying guns to town hall meetings? to assert right wing authority? There's a deep divide in this country. And, yes OP, it makes me sick too.

Why not fix one of the biggest mistake in American history and impeach him before it become even worse?

He was a mistake, plain and simple. He has no leaderships skills, poor decision making skills, has proven he was not ready for this job and of course his main job as commander of our armed forces has become a total failure at it.

He has traveled the world making fun of America and Americans, he is trying to mak friends of our enemies that will never work and enemies of our friends, he is wanting to take down the defense mechanism that protects us and the list goes on and on.

He has ZERO major accomplishments in 10 months even with massive spending and a super majority on congress.

I do not hate the man personally, I hate what he has and is trying to do to America. We need to stop him from continuing with his destruction of America and pushing his far left wing radical ideas on America.

You have an opinion and I have one, mine is that Obama is a major mistake that we need to correct quickly before the mess cannot be fixed for years to come.

On the other hand, nothing I can say compares to what the left wing radicals did to our country and to Bush for 8 long years.

Even Bush, who I disagreed with on many occasions was not this bad, not even close.

Time will tell but I can almost guess that Obama will make things far worse for America and the left wingers who support him will continue to allow him a free ride even though they know he was never ready for prime time from the start.

He does not have what it takes to run America, plain and simple.

I agree as well; death threats against President Obama have risen 400%. It is
impossible to equate this level of what can only be called insanity with the
invective that Bush 43 received. When a "pastor" goes to that extreme, the
problem has moved from dissent to evil, plain and simple.

Is this the loyal opposition the Op has in mind?

How soon we forget the rage for the last eight years.

Ok, ok. Let's compare this statement below to the pics in the link.

Can the Left expect civility when for 8 long years they had none themselves?

This is the height of hypocrisy.

I agree. The left wing is hardly pure as the driven snow when it comes to being vile and hateful.I do not understand how the left gets over trying to claim such moral high ground. Just look at some of the derogatory language that has been used on this board. "Repugs', 'ignorant hillbillys', 'idiot rednecks', on and on, as descriptions of anyone who disagrees with the 'liberal' mindset. The slightest tilt to the right is an open invitation for being labeled in all kinds of vile ways, and all the while the ones slapping the labels are claiming to have a higher intellect and a moral compass that cannot possibly fail..

This thread has way of bringing out the absolute worst of the right wing.

President Obama has not committed any impeachable offenses as yet, unless going abroad in attempt to have the olympics in chicago is impeachable.

You right wingers need to stop drinking koolaid, it's making you punch drunk, which in turn, makes you into blathering fools who don't know what you're talking about.

US Constitution Annotated - Impeachable Offenses

Bush was highly impeachable

George W. Bush’s Impeachable Offenses: Newsroom: The Independent Institute

Impeachable offenses:

High crimes and misdemeanors - SourceWatch

Some of you right wingers have called the President just about every name under the sun, have been obstructionists, the party of NO, made outrageous charges against President Obama, i.e you birthers, have blamed Mr. Obama for the recession, the bailouts, and the so called destruction of America, and have also slandered his name, while also showing the most disrespect to any President in history. It's as bad as some of you wishing death to him, and have even carried firearms to his town hall meeting. What kind of a message are you sending? One of death to the President?

People are stupid. Do you realize that fueling your rhetoric is unhealthy to America as a whole. Do you realize, and this is my prediction, that if anyone attempts to take President Obama's life by assassination, and if it is successful, you will see racial strife and riots like you have never seen before? You people are very, very dangerous, not only to other Americans, but you are weakening our nation with your rhetoric. You right wingers are bordering on the side of insanity. Seriously. You people are a danger to society and the civility of America.

Default Shoe on other foot

Jimmy Carter was the one who called obama a "Boy". But down here in the South we call... alligator a lizards, snake a worm, so I guess we can call Obama a boy.
