Another fallacy of the Left. 4% is not raking in record profits.

Keep your list, Obama is not doing so darn good himself. 43 died just this month and the number continue to rise under Obama, all after he was asked to bring in more troops to help and forgot about it.
So, if it's not about oil, and profits haliburton and the other contractors are receiving, and possibly funneling the $$$$ to cheney and bush families, it surely couldn't have been about WMD's, because there wasn't any. Oh, did we start crap with Iraq based on faulty intelligence????!!!!! Bush freed 50 million arabs? That is a crock. Oh brother, give us another reason for invading a soverign nation please.

Only 4%? then it's not really a fallacy. I'd be comfortable if the percentage were 94%. And no, I'm not against companies making profits, but not on the backs of people who need medical care or are dying.
This isn't the health care thread anyway. Let's try to stay on topic.

Default The Rage of the Right

The GOP that I voted for since the days of Nixon is now long gone, replaced by a lunatic fringe I don't recognize as rational. They're not only wrong, but they're being foolish at the top of their lungs.

How can you defund something that was not funded properly in the first place? My question is under the Bush administration there were wide spread profiteering, why was'nt anyone ever brought to justice?

Oh, I see. It's perfectly fine for YOU to go off topic and bring the HC issue to the thread, but when someone responds, you remind them to stay on topic. I now see how this works.

Here's your "staying on topic".

Without getting into a health care debate here: initially, the bill didn't pass the smell test in the senate finance committee. While insurance companies continue to rake in record profits, pay their CEO's as much as 24 Million (Million with a M) per year, while denying coverage to their customers, or cancelling them alltogether. Remember this: 43 million Americans without coverage, many families file bankruptcy or go broke when they can't pay out of their pockets = to, losing their homes, cars, jobs, and sometimes die.
And yeah, 4% profit for the industry as a whole.

When there's a presidential election, more or less half the country votes for the republican candidate and the other half for the democratic candidate. Obviously one wins but, the difference in the popular vote is usually close and in the most extreme case I think was 60/40 (give or take a percent)......independents (like myself) are the ones that determine who wins. You can't make generalizations about either party when so many people are involved, we're all individuals.....and the actions of a few, never represent the majority, especially when they're from the extreme.
I do take offense to using two "tokens" one was used and ignored (powell) and the other was strictly a "yes" woman, why did'nt you add Clarence clueless Thomas also? Out of the three C. Powell reputation was ruinined b/c of his involvement in Bush's administration. The only reason that he brought him aboard was STRICTLY for show and tell purposes. The good ole boys never paid him any attention especially after the UN mess

My fraustration is not limited to the stupid reubs it is also directed to the spineless dumbocrats! I have always believed that a legit third party should run things. People need to realize that the difference between the two parties is only where they get their money from! They both act in their own best interest and not the people that elected them.

According to data compiled annually by Fortune magazine concerning the most profitable industries in America, the third and fourth place finishers in 2008 were Pharmaceuticals at 19.3% and Medical Products & Equipment at 16.3%.

Energy, by contrast, was 41st at 0.9%, while Food ranked 43rd at 0.6%.

I have senior neighbors. Now I see why they're complaining about how much their medications are. Some people I know skip a daily pill, or cut one in half, to make them last longer. Is the cost directly attributed to the republicans?

Rage of the right, back on topic before the thread gets closed:
Here's some outrageous stuff, once again, the republicans are in the fear-mongering and misinformation mode. Criticizing the President for taking weeks, (too long) to decide if more troops are needed for dubya's wars. A female republican poitician said yesterday parts of the healthcare bill will be used to fund abortions.

After 8 years of lies and deceipt, how can any thinking American believe anything the repugs have to say? I think that's why they lost the election so badly, nobody believes their lies anymore. There's only a few holdouts (hardline repugs) left, most are on the P&OC forum spouting the lies, and keeping the fear mongering machine oiled.
