this thread is about people in a church supposedly praying to obama - based on a video with what many people are saying are misleading subtitles, misidentifying "o god" as "obama". i haven't watched the video so i can't judge for myself.

Did I say kids are praying to Obama in public schools?

It's not fuzzy in my speakers. They're saying "Hear our cry, O God."

Sheesh. It's a cliche, but you people really do need to get a life.

Is it too late for a poll to see who heard Obama vs who heard O God [/i]?

Irishvanguard was decent enough to post his/her retraction.

Let's see if there's at least one more decent right-winger on this forum. I bet not.

"If someone slaps you on the cheek, let him slap the other too! If someone demands your coat, give him your shirt besides. Give what you have to anyone who asks you for it; and when things are taken away from you, don't worry about getting them back." Luke 6:29

Then there is the lesson of the poor widow who gave her last pennies to help the poor while the rich gave little of their wealth.
He called up his disciples to him and remarked, That poor widow has given more than all those rich men put together! For they gave a little of their extra fat, while she gave up her last penny." Mark12:43,44
Then of course Christ said it is nearly impossible for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "It is almost impossible for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. I say it again-it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!" Math19:23-24

I post these bible quotes not because I'm a bible thumper but because they were Christ's basic teachings. No where did Christ say you were to worry about your money or god forbid pray for your money. If anything Christ said to give your money away and be happy that you did.
Easy there, Okie.

I don't know who this "rich person" you keep referring to is, but it's not me. I work hard for my money, and I want to be the one who decides what I do with it. You got a problem with that?

As to Jesus, keep "Render unto Caesar" and all that jazz firmly in mind before you start accusing people you don't know of things you don't understand.

You can worship Obama. You can worship Jesus. You can worship Bush. You can worship Vishnu. You can worship God. You can worship Buddha.

I don't care.

I support your right to worship as you please.

Oh please. Though it was done in a way Christians will recognize as the format used in some church services, clearly there was no asking for divine intervention and therefore it wasn't a prayer. It was nothing more than people imploring an elected official to do what they elected him to do.
