That article also said new immigrants need to wait 5 years to apply for medicaid but that 5 year rule won't apply to this healthcare bill. I'm assuming these new citizens are part of the "can't get insurance" group ?

So whos side are these people on anyway?

Obama and many dems have stated they are not for illegal criminals getting any heath care, now they turn around and found a loophole for the criminal to get free health care on us taxpayers.

People should not forget things like this come election time.

Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that current law and the healthcare bill under consideration are too lax and leave the door open to illegal immigrants defrauding the government using false or stolen identities to obtain benefits.
How do you know who is an immigrant?
I guess it will mean a National ID Registration?
Or should we just check people who don't look like you?

Can't buy beer without a photo ID.

The quote from Backus she is using means zero.

You can't buy beer without one but the dems will sure hand you free health care if you are a criminal illegal in our country wont they?

Well how does the government check today for people who apply for welfare, food stamps or gov't assisted housing ? Only US citizens are supposed to get those so whatever rules they apply there should also apply for any public healthcare plan, don't you agree ?

I never bought some of the claims about illegals and the treatment they get in the U.S.

I've worked with scores of illegals. They all got paid exactly the same as Americans. And were treated the same. They even had private health insurance. Employers could care less where they were from. As long as they did their job.

I'm not saying that's true of all illegals. But I bet it is the norm.

Are we supposed to believe that the same government that turns a blind eye toward people wandering unmolested across our border are suddenly going to run a tight ship when it comes to restricting health services to the same illegals?

Why should we be so up in arms over illegal immigrants getting free medical care when in U. S. prisons people in there convicted of all unspeakable, horrendous crimes are entitled to free medical care?

Could it be that guy from South Carolina was correct?

It's amusing when right wingers have to resort to making things up, and then getting angry over their fantasies.

It's simple really:

1) Obama stated that it would be at least 4 years after the bill passes before healthcare reforms are fully in place and operational.

2) Within the 4 years after healthcare legislation is passed but not fully-fuctional, illegal immigration reform legislation will be passed.

3) When healthcare reforms are fully in place, the ID requirement loophole will be fully propped open by the immigration reform legislation, and can't be closed due to discrimination language in the immigration legislation.

4) Illegal immigrants are granted government ran healthcare privileges off the back of taxpayers for fear of discriminating against them.

See, its really easy. Democrats have a plan. You can bet on it.
