As a conservative....
libertarian, I am astounded by how degrading this forum has gotten since President Obama was elected. The partisan split, and overall immature and juvinile nature of many of the people here, is really quite disturbing.
I am pretty vocal about my believes, and stand behind the positions that I take, but rarely do I stoop to levels as immature and childish a some of the posters here. This country is FOUNDED on the principles of two opposing viewpoints providing checks and balances to each other to find a moderate position. The concepts of this country, a country I in no way doubt you all love, would crumble to pieces if the balance provided by differing opinions was discarded.
For everybody, those that I typically agree with, as well as some of those I seldom do, why can't we have discussions and debates without the immaturity? Chicago lost the Olympics, and I see a whole bunch of "ha! Obama is an idiot for going there", and a host of other examples which are on par with the reaction that children have when one has a candy bar and the other does not.
I have decieded to take a stand to raise the level of maturity on this forum, yet this isn't the reason for my post. I want to encourage all of you to help make this forum something interesting and knowledgeable by not responding to baiters or flamers, by ignoring those more interested in partisan non-sense than to even try and understand opposing view points, and to overall be an example to make this forum what we all want it to be... logical debate.
I am sure this post will get flamed. Don't worry, it will probably just be the same people who bring this forum down to a 8 year old level. There are some real rational and logical people here, lets focus on those logical and focused debate. Getting off my soap box now. I hope that through ignoring and calling out partisan hacks, we can make this forum more enjoyable and educational for all.

Do you know how many posts we've had calling for civil debate or less partisan debate?
While it's a nice thought...ain't gonna happen.

Its really quite sad. Is this a good micro-example of our society? If so, I am embarrassed for us.
I think alot of people get wrapped up in the "side" they are on, and forget to be logical. They become more like chearleaders than players.
Once in a while, through a concerted effort, I think that all of the members here could help each other to distinguish who is a player and who is a partisan chearleader.

Please note, the problem with Obama is not only partisan. I'm a Democrat and many of my Democratic friends agree with me that the guy is way off base. He isn't a leader. At this time in the country, we need a leader!

hussein obama and liberals follow Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Not one rule is civil and we see them at work time and time again. I contend the only way to fight fire is with fire. Civility does not work with the left. It's been tried.
Alinsky’s Power Tactics:
1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the experience of your people.
3. Whenever possible go outside the experience of the enemy.
4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
10. The major premise of tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.

Hey Carli,
Let's define what separates the players from the cheerleaders. In my book the players are the payers. You know, the 50% of Americans that actually pay tax. The rest are cheerleaders. Get some skin in the game! Your anology is why many of the players in this country are mad as heck. We have half the nation sitting on the sidelines telling the guys on the field how to play the game despite the fact they have never even plays one quarter.

I agree. I am from Europe and therefore I do not care about this silly Rep vs Dem battle.
I will share with you what I experienced here during last weeks:
1. Anybody from the opposing party is simply always wrong.
2. People using the term Socialism/Socialist without knowing the true meaning of it.
3. The coverage of my media is never biased, your media is always biased.
4. Whatever Glenn Beck says must be right, because so many people watch him.
5. Some people will insist they are right, even if you proof them they are wrong.
6. People focus on too many small, irrelavant things.
7. People on here know more about politics or science than Professors, Nobel Prize winners or scientist.
8. Cynism is being used all the time.
9. Instead of actually listen to each other, a lot of people belittle and insult each other.
