Not a surprise. However, they do have a lot less gun violence than places like the US. However, only guns can help level the difference between the infirm and the physically strong.

Criminals will find a way to get a gun. Period. Criminals commit crime. Gun owners help prevent crime.

That simply can't be. Haven't you noticed there hasn't been any drug use in the country since they were made illegal? Prohibition works!

Does the fact that violence (with and without guns) has been rising fast since they banned law-abiding people from having guns, make any difference to you?

But Glen Beck said that it was the USA that was horrible because we took the In god we trust off the money. Beck gets it wrong again.

Assault statistics aren't comparable across national boundaries (what percentage of physical assaults in, say, the housing projects of New Orleans are actually reported to police)?

All we can compare are homicide statistics. By that metric, the UK hasn't changed much since the handgun ban. The rate of homicide last year was the lowest it has been in a couple decades.

I doubt the ban had much effect one way or another; there weren't a lot of handguns circulating in the UK even before the ban.

Yeah, no handguns, but plenty of AK's from the middle east.
