Food Commodities program works well. My elderly neighbors never had a problem getting food. The Dept of Agriculture helps feed many disadvantaged people around here.

Do they recommend "free market healthcare system" for veterans instead? Why don't republicans think of that when they're in power? Or, would that be political suicide?

Ask your congressmen, if they would rather give up their government run programs, and have them explore the "free market". How about you, preparing for completely privatized Medicare program (if you're not already on Medicare). Ask for it, but spare the rest of us from mindless free marketeers.

I've always been happy with the USPS even though it gets a bad rap by some.
I can't think of any privately run businesses on the same scale as any government program that run without a hitch either.

In addition, government will often take up programs that no private business would want to run. For that matter, I would love to see health insurance companies lobby to take over, VA, Medicare and Medicaid from the government.
