Who would you forgive? The slave traders and the slave holders are all dead. Is guilt somehow passed down through the generations, a secular version of original sin? What about those whites (its who we are really talking about here) who came to this country after slavery, after the Civil War? Are the descendents of Italian immigrants who came here in 1900 somehow guilty for Antebellum slavery?

I was not a slave, so a transgression has not been committed against me to forgive.
I definitely won't forget though. Even in 2012, if you're an African-American, there are experiences in your life that won't allow you to totally forget.
And I don't want to forget about slavery. My ancestors were ROCK STARS and persevered in the face of so much adversity. I'd never want to forget them. I only hope that I honor their sacrifice by the way in which I live my life.

There are people graduating high school who can't read, what makes you think they can find a continent on the globe?
No, it is not true. That poster was saying that it doesn't matter if AA forgive the US for slavery because they are too dumb to even find Africa on a map. That is false and unacceptable. Many Americans, black or white, may have trouble finding certain countries (like some of the -stans, it is a common joke) on a map, but not a whole continent. That poster was just being mean spirited. Most high school graduates can read, btw. A few may have trouble I admit, but the vast majority can. The illiteracy rate in this country isn't THAT bad.

Agreed. Outside of extremists, I can't imagine a black person going around wondering this about white people. I have yet to meet one person who does this.
It's very interesting to me that some white people think black people think about them, when it is the furthest thing from the truth. I'm starting to believe it's because they think of us so much.
We do deny them a good education, access to livable wages, and shun them from large segments of our communities.

And for the record, anyone who wishes to learn can do so on their own. The only thing that educational establishments give are CREDENTIALS, not education.
Equitable trade is not possible under socialism - too much overhead. You'd have to eradicate socialism to get equitable (and livable) wages.
