for his situation.

I really would have thought 8 months in, obama would have some coattails for others to ride.

Deeds points finger at Washington - Jonathan Martin - POLITICO.com

Quote:
Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Creigh Deeds said in an interview that he was lagging in the polls entering the final weeks of the campaign in part because of voter concerns over his national party’s agenda.

“We had a very tough August because people were just uncomfortable with the spending; they were uncomfortable with a lot of what was going on, a lot of the noise that was coming out of Washington, D.C.”
I guess he won't be inviting obama back. Or more likely, obama won't be putting in the effort for a potential loser - that would reflect badly on his political "capital".

Um... yeah... that's a colossal understatement.

The Virginia governors race is widely considered to be a litmus test for Democrats in the 2010 mid-terms. You know there's trouble on the homefront for Democrats when a state that turned blue for Obama in 2008 is trending red for Republicans in 2009. It just goes to show that Obama was merely a celebrity, not a real candidate with a real constituency. Someday, Democrats will finally admit that Obama won the election because of a referendum against George W. Bush, not because Obama was true contender. And it certainly didn't hurt that he was black. Republicans are about to be back on the national stage again, and Democrats have no one but themselves to blame.
