Cooperation Rises between Iran and Taliban - CBS Evening News - CBS News

Quote:
But lately Iran's been making a different kind-of investment - one increasingly worrying to the United States: it's backing the Taliban.

A soldier from 7th Group Special Forces finds rocket propelled grenades in a hard-core Taliban village that he knows from experience, are made in Iran.

More worrying still: U.S. intelligence believes Iran is supplying surface to air missiles to the Taliban - the very same weapon the U.S. supplied to the Afghan resistance to bring down the Russians.
So...Iran is directly aiding the Taliban, killing our troops as a result.

US Commanders are muzzled;

But U.S. commanders are not allowed to comment publicly and it’s unclear to them what the U.S. strategy is for dealing with Iran’s increasingly deadly involvement.

Obama is so desperate for a "deal" with Iran, he will sink to new lows to make the deal, he will sacrifice our soldiers in order to keep this quiet.

The US has been calling Iran the axis of evil, and drumming up the villification chant towards Iran for quite some time, not to mention some BS about a "glass parking lot, bombing them back to the stone age." The US is heading for the stone age. Our debt is crippling a once proud nation filled with small industries that supported thousands of generations for decades. If we stay in Afghanistan, we will lose many more of the people we need back home. Americans are so paranoid, it isn't funny.

Here is another example of muzzling of our officers stationed in Iran. Oba mao has muzzled McChrystal on many things and, of course, too much of it has to do with his belief that he can talk to Ahmedinejad, using his karma to convince him of something. I guess all the lies told by Iran about their atomic experiments just don't mean anything to him. Handcuffing our military is nothing new as politicians have been doing it forever. McChrystal has spoken out by leak and will probably keep it up before he resigns his job.

Did you see a lot of paranoia in that video or the article from CBS? I saw a lot of truth that is being held back from our military men by the administration in an attempt to please the Iranians. I guess you didn't see that soldier explaining how the grenade was manufactured in Iran. Paranoia is nothing but the favorite word from the left now days.

Iran doesn't need any help from us; they've earned the Axis of Evil moniker just fine by their actions. We don't need to bomb them to the stone age, they're still in it.

Thanks for lumping all of us as paranoid, by the way. Big brushes are easier to paint with, right?

You got that right. MyChrystal's initial troop request was higher than 40K and he was pressured into reducing it. No wonder so many of the soldiers I work with have decided not to make the military a career and are getting out. They don't feel this administration will have its back.

How are they 'handcuffed.' There is a chain of command and anyone/everyone who moves up through the ranks as McChrystal has done should know the rulebook inside and out. This general's absolute disregard for the chain of command suggests to me that he is completely undeserving of his position. Just because you happen agree with his insubordination doesn't make it right.

And, a little newsflash - we are not at war with the Taliban. The Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11.

This is hilarious, the White House has been basically ignoring the Iran problem for years while conservatives didn't issue a peep. Now people who hate Obama pull it out like a rabbit out of a hat like it's suddenly such a huge issue that is new and sudden. It's the fault of everyone who is involved since Iran popped their head up and taunted the world with their nukes.

You want the definition of selective blindness and hypocrisy? This situation pretty much takes the cake.

George W Bush told us that due to our actions the Taliban had "ceased to exist". How could anyone possibly be aiding a non-entity?
