There was no such thing as "passing" during slavery or the colonial or antebellum era, and even after that term did not apply.

Plenty of mixed race people identified as and were considered white.

Also, there were many people that could buy their freedom and free themselves from slavery. This was very common.

BTW, you can't have consensual sex with a slave.
The free population consisted of many mulattoes, mixed race peoples, as well as sizable numbers of blacks. The free population didn't just consist of whites.

Try again.

Read this. This addresses the real true history of the antebellum colonial era and debunks urban myths and urban legends:

Again, varies by region, time period, etc. for example, only 100 years ago, in Ohio, Obama would have been seen as a WHITE man. They even put it in their code of law. That is what happened in Puerto Rico as well where more than half the population identifies as White even though the African ancestry in many is obvious. Again. experiences vary by region and blanket statements tend to be innacurate as they hold up in some cases and not in others.

Your arguments are false and way off base.

I never said the entire population was made of free white people, but the idea that "many" slaves were able to buy their freedom and were free is almost laughable (if it weren't so insulting).

To give certain people a false sense of self-importance.

That's about it.

Celebrate that they've come full circle from oppression to be the face of oppression? Times are good.
