The President had nothing to do with Chicago getting or not getting the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee snubbed the US Olympic Committee for being so arrogant and incompetently run. There was nothing Obama could have done to change that vote.

What a joke of an award. Gore invents global warming to make a movie and some money and gets one. Now Obama, who was nominated 7 weeks into his term, gets it, while accomplishing absolutely nothing.
This is just one more thing that will lead to his downfall. He's getting more jaded every day from fools like this feeding his ego, even though he's done nothing. He's going to have a long fall from the top.

Then of course there is Jim Inhofe who has no PhD in weather or climate change and yet he thinks he knows better than a real scientist who works in the field of study? AMAZING!

They may be made by former prize recipients, members of any national assembly or congress, university professors in their respective fields, judges in international courts, and also by advisors to the Peace Prize Committee. In 1939, Adolf Hitler was nominated, but no prize at all was awarded that year. In 2009, there were 205 names placed in nomination.
Actually, Arafat was jointly awarded the Peace Prize (with Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres) in 1994. Carter was the recipient in 2002. You don't seem to be following along with all this as closely as you contend.

The Nobel Peace Prize is agenda driven and means little anymore. If they would give one to Gore they would give one to anyone and they just did. We have the first black president and the most openly criminal and lying administration in history.
First: yes, it's agenda-driven. The agenda is peace.
After the calamity of a Bush/Cheney-led USA, the fact that Americans chose a different direction - to a president who didn't rattle his saber and declare the world had to do things our way - is cause for hope in the rest of the world. Other nations were sick of our bullying. The rationale for this year's prize winner is that he "changed the tone", and the prize committee wants to reward that. By rewarding it, they hope to encourage it to continue.
A significant part of our population still wishes to "stick it" to the world, and tell the world to go to hell, we'll do whatever we want. They sneer at peace-making and see it as a weakness. I hope that the number of Americans who do want peace, who do seek to solve problems through diplomacy first, militarily only when absolutely necessary, will continue to make their voices heard and not grow apathetic.
I personally am surprised that Obama won, but I understand the decision, and I congratulate President Obama and the United States.
As a footnote: the rest of your post, about criminal and lying, displays your deficit in historical knowledge and perspective.
