What makes it even sadder is now knowing for certian that the nobel peace prize, something that WAS awarded to some of the most amazing people in history like Einstein, MLK jr and Alex Flemming (the guy who discovered penicillin), is now an award that ranks somewhere between extremely politically biast and a complete sham.
My guess...Next year it goes to Tom from MySpace. He made peace with all of us
Neither Albert Einstein nor Alex Fleming were ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Einstein was awarded the prize in physics , Fleming was awarded the prize in medicine.
Look...after Gore won, the Prize became a joke...like the kind you use to get in a box of Cracker Jacks...this is all political..they love giving it to their liberal friends and those they admire who are liberals...
In a stunning announcement, Millard Fillmore Senior High School chose Shawn Rabinowitz, an incoming junior, as next year’s valedictorian. The award was made, the valedictorian committee announced from Norway of all places, on the basis of “Mr. Rabinowitz’s intention to ace every course and graduate number one in class.” In a prepared statement, young Shawn called the unprecedented award, “f---ing awesome.”
This Nobel thingy only mocks itself. They sold out their credibility long ago. Unfortunately, credibility can't be purchased.
Also heard Palin to get a Pulitizer 'cause she plans to read a book... some day.
I was surprised and confused but a commenter at the Washington Post cleared it up.
"One should not forget that it is the Swedes who give the Nobel Prizes for science, etc. Norway gives the peace prize as nothing more than a socialist political statement."
I don't blame Obama for this. The stupid Norwegians, thinking that they were helping, have just boxed in Obama, limited his actions, and provided fodder for the right.
CBS - "The Nobel Peace Prize committee wanted to help President Obama by awarding him the prestigious, $1.4 million award. Instead they've done the opposite....Now those Europeans have awarded Mr. Obama, who has been in office less than one year, a prize that seems, at the very least, premature. The Nobel committee has said they chose the president in an effort to "contribute a little bit to enhance what he is trying to do." And while their intensions might be good, the decision reflects a startling lack of understanding by committee members of political reality. "

Well then you shouldn't be concerned about this whatsoever, now should you? I always love the people who feign indifference about something but then just can't help themselves, you just need to insult, don't you?
I'll never understand that about war, I'll never understand war period I guess, but an innocent life is taken and yet we do nothing drastic to change that...we see it as some sort of trivial cost for the better. No. One innocent life taken and it is disgrace to the whole country. Why do we trivialize such things? Even the soldiers, I mean, yes, they signed up for it but...I don't know, I mean they don't realize what their getting into I feel like. I don't think I'll ever understand the need for war and the idea that people can't simply work it out and avoid blood being spilled. We think, oh we can just go to war, well maybe we need to start thinking this isn't a freaking option so we go to the tables more. I've heard well we have to go to war because we have to protect ourselves, do we??? How long did we try to initiate a civil discussion? I don't know, I'm sure we tried but, we're not trying enough.
