This administration, and it's loopy supporters, won't be happy until we're back to scrounging for firewood and foraging for food.

Heaven forbid that we would use our own resources. What an unacceptable thought. Why, that might make us independent and we would lose our place in the one world government lineup.

How many americans are out of work because of this?

I dont want to hear about the enviroment either since Obama loaned that money to who was it to drill for oil off their shore.

Waaaah, I can't destroy national monuments, threaten endangered species and possibly contaminate drinking water. Waaaaah. I'm too arrogant and/or stupid to work on alternative clean energy sources and move this country forward instead of hog-tying us to soon-to-be-outdated and pollution-creating methods. Waaaah. Let's blame Obama for the Bush Administration's inability to follow its own procedures for reviewing the appropriateness of these leases. Waaaaah. We only get to profit off of 17 sites now -- how will we ever be able to afford our mansions and boats and bling? Waaaaah.

That about sums up the oil companies position.

I'm pretty sure everyone here is all for clean energy. What you need to realize is that even if we go full force on creating clean energy, we will not be dependent on it for decades. In the mean time, WE NEED TO DRILL FOR OUR OWN OIL. It will create jobs for our citizens and we will be less dependent on foreign countries. Sounds like a win/win to me. You seem to be the one doing this

Yep. And they get to drill on 17 sites to start out. And in the meantime, the remaining sites are being re-evaluated through the proper procedures that were in place and not followed before Bush circumvented them on his way out the door. Those procedures are there for a reason. In the meantime, start drilling those 17 sites and start work on alternative sources now so that you'll be ahead of the game before our resources run out. Stop blaming Obama for the mistakes of George W. Bush. And stop the waaaah waaaaah waaaahing over it and get to work.

As I recall this set of leases, they were rushed through in the last days of the Bush administration, nothing but an insider's greed grab of public resources at sweetheart prices; a bad deal for we the people. These are OUR resources and not the purview of a few political cronies. Those who want to read about other such deals need only lookup the "Teapot Dome" scandal of yesteryear.

Let's rebid the leases under proper processes, and let's go full tilt on wind and solar, which we have tons of here in the west, and add nuclear to the mix too. I want electric cars and I want off of imported oil asap. F-OPEC!

If we quit buying from the Saudis, they'll quit selling to us.

Petro-dollars.

What do you want to attach a Federal Reserve Note to, oil from Colorado?

I bet you're the same person who complains that we fight too much in the Middle East.

Know what?? If we had our own oil, maybe we wouldn't have to send our boys over there to make sure our interests are covered!!

This is insane!!! This is like finding a family dead in their home of starvation, yet upon searching the house, we find that their cabinets are stocked with food.
