I have my reasons, none of which are putting her on a pedestal.

I'll leave you to guess, if you're so inclined.

Still a lot of Republicans out here in flyover country. 2008 was a housecleaning election so maybe not a true read of how weak the GOP is vis a vis the Dems.

So the GOP could make a comeback with the right candidate if Obama screws up enough. Palin is popular, but maybe not popular enough to go the distance through the primaries to win the nom. I think the GOP needs some sort of conservative populist angle to contrast with Obama. Palin is a start.

That is the exact problem right there. It might play well in portions of 'fly over" country as you call it, but not the rest. Go right ahead and nominate Palin, and lose Colorado & Virginia again (states the GOP needs to win) by getting obliterated in suburban D.C & Denver, and well your state as well by getting demolished in Franklin again.

Palin's New Political Group; Stand Up For Our Nation

Glen Beck's success secrets. "Go for the jugular and use a rusty knife."

Rush Limbaugh's self esteem seminar, "It's not what you do, it's what you say"

Teabaggers's handbook. "Taking back the country for dummies"

Dick Cheney's new book. "Torture is an acceptable form of communication."

Joe Biden's new study group. "Sit down and shut up."

Jesse Helm's memoirs, "Racism was a figment of white southerner's imagination."

Obama appealed to the white collar vote in Franklin, which is somewhat of an anomaly in the state. The reason Obama won in Ohio was because of the economy, not because of dislike of Palin.

Granted, but it is interesting to note the portion of the state that has moved the most towards the Dems in recent years isn't the Cleveland or Toledo areas, its the Columbus area. You made the comparison in the other thread to Northern VA & I think its quite true. In portions of the state Palin might play well. However, she won't play well at all in Franklin. In order for the GOP to win the state, do they have to win Franklin? No, but they need to be at least somewhat competitive. If they get blown out there, they have very little chance of winning the state, and that is why Palin would be a terrible candidate for Ohio (as would Huckabee). They would help energize the base, but wouldn't help in the areas the GOP needs to get back in order to win. Same thing for Virginia (Northern VA) and Colorado (suburban Denver, especially Arapahoe & Jefferson). The "real American" or "I'm more pro-America than you are" mantra doesn't work in these areas.

A start for what? She's overexposed, and her stupidity really came out with the Katie Couric interview.
