Haha, Atlanta is basically a northern city with southern accents. It's actually a pretty liberal joint.
It's even in Atlanta but to a much lesser degree. The reason is Atlanta, as progressive as it is, it's still a part of the South and these beliefs regarding interracial relationships is very much a part of the fabric and culture in the South. What is interesting is aside from interracial relationships, I think most in the South are accepting and tolerant of Blacks and other minorities. However, they are insistent that interracial mixing not take place. It's the unwritten rule...well I guess it WAS the unwritten rule.
I neither approve nor disapprove interracial marriages. The fact that this J.P. holds an opinion on what sort of people he'll perform marriages should be his own business. Leave it to the meddlesome liberals to dictate how things should be, I suppose. Apparently Will Rogers never met a modern-day socialist commie either.

Why don't you just admit your disapprove of interracial marriages. After this statement, no one believes otherwise.

He's not doing his job though. His role is to marry whoever comes to him and requests it. Your opinion of your customer does not come into play.

It's absolutely true. Mormons were found to have a lot or rare recessive disease in the past because they had a small population in an isolated area of the United States and there was marriage between closely related groups (not incest)
Ashkenazi Jews have a higher incidence of Tay Sachs and other rare recessive disease because of similar practices.
