Please define "socialized medicine"

I think the main people who would see their incomes decline would be specialists. The costs of surgeries would go down. I would hope to see the incomes of primary-care physicians raised and I'd like to see more recruitment to get more of them.
I think SOME healthcare professionals need to see a reduction in income but even though the income for health care professionals in some countries is lower, their malpractice insurance is lower and their education was subsidized.
Some countries are having a hard time recruiting doctors while others have enough doctors.

We can still get good health care and rely on physician's assistants and nurse practitioners too.

Doctors will still be rich if we have national health care/national health insurance. Don't worry.
Docs in Britain get more money if they keep their patients healthy. I'd like those kind of incentives here.

We also need to focus more on preventative rather care than "sick" care.

I'm telling you, you need to read that book I recommended. =]

Nobody said Cheney wasn't smart. He did manage to finagle what, five deferments to get out of Vietnam? His problems arose in selling his soul not to Satan, but to PNAC and an almost Prussian devotion to the ideal of American hegemony along with coming under an undue influence of the mesmerizing immorality of Leo Strauss. The combination was lethal...

You act like that's a bad thing. American hegemony is what affords you the right to sit behind your computer and brag to this forum about how you are in the top 1% of income earners. Ironic that you would find fault in it.

Interesting theory, but the issue put forward by Peggy Anne is Republicans LOVING WAR.

Which branch of the federal government did republicans control between 1961 and 1969?

Yeah, it is a bad thing. Hegemony, unilateralism, exceptionalism, triumphalism. All bad.

Is that a tip of the hat to Al Gore for having invented the internet??? Otherwise, those who try to play the pauper card -- as in all liberals are lazy, shiftless, envious, downscale, leeches trying to sponge off the rewards that have only justly accrued to the hard work and ingenuity of glorious right-wing capitalists -- may have to swallow the fact that a great many of those who are called liberals are in fact highly successful and very well-to-do. That some would march up and down all day defending the rich against suggestions of additional taxation on account of all those jobs that they supposedly (but don't actually) create, then turn on one simply for not sharing in the same flawed philosophy is testimony to more than just a certain lack of intellect and integrity.

Which party was in power in 1956 when the US began sending "trainers" into Vietnam?

No, only those who are capable of teaching at a level above that of meaningless homilies...
