Does it diappoint/upset you?
Do you say anything?
If so, what?
HOLY CRAP! YOU ARE PICKY!
Hell, after growing up in Los Angeles, I get excited when a person can speak basic english. As long as I can understand them, I don't give a s*** how they pronounce their words!
It annoys me when anyone of any color speaks or writes incorrectly. I dont get so involved that I shake my head or get upset. Although "it's" for "its" and "loose" for "lose" on the innernets probably bring me closest. And a plural pronoun to represent singular ("If your friend wants to wear your coat, let them"). I know this is common nowadays but it still bugs me no end.
If anyone has an interest in language, this is a great book written for lay people by a linguistics professor.
If you are strongly of the belief that there IS one "right" way to speak a language, you will be disappointed. It's pretty fascinating how language changes constantly, and the author can be humorous at times, as well.
I dislike it as much as when I hear people say INsurance.
I can't help but to elicit an incredulity smile.
I get a breathing spasm when I hear height pronounced hythe.
How about veHICKLE or persons instead of people. The plural of person is not persons. Its people.
