Thumbs up Post-ABC poll: few partisan fissures on Iran nukes

Americans overwhelmingly see Iran's nuclear program as geared toward the development of atomic weaponry, and more than eight in 10 support direct diplomatic talks to try to resolve the situation, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Post-ABC poll: few partisan fissures on Iran nukes - Behind the Numbers

But one point of agreement emerges: broad majorities on both ends of the ideological spectrum back economic sanctions to discourage Iran's development of nuclear weapons.

Iran will get nuclear weapons in the next 18 mos. or so. There is not much we can do about it. Russa and China will never approve the harsh sanctions needed to prevent it. Iran feels it is a national priority for their continued status in the ME. Pakistan has them, India has them, Israel has them. Consensus among most nations is that they are no more likely to use them than any of the countries that already possess them. They know they would be turned into a glass parking lot if they ever did.
I'm not endorsing Iran having them. i'm just saying it's inevitable

Now where on earth would American's get that idea? Could it be that the press regurgitates a pro-interventionist, anti-Iranian message day in and day out on each and every single news outlet in the country, including MSNBC?

People are happy to repeat what they have been told.

"A public that hears only praise and no criticism will predictably answer "yes" to pollsters who ask whether the President is doing a good job."
-- Mark Weisbrot , co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington D.C.

This applies equally as well to the antithesis. If a person hears 24/7 about how bad something is, they will simply assume it is truth because it is so oft repeated.

Don't believe me, I give you the Iraq war.

Its easier to sell Americans a war than it is a pair of underwear.
