Right now we are getting lots of money pillaging and plundering overseas. But we are also spending a ton of money doing so and it's turning out to be a losing gamble. What should we try next?

Well that would be the first step of course. Stop the frivelous and wasteful spending and the rampant kickbacks, bribery and corruption in the US Government.

But unfortuneatley nothing short of a revolution will bring that change. And the American people have gotten too soft for another revolution.

Explain what is stupid about that post? Just because it comes from Moore you don't like it?

Why would you possibly be against this idea? I doubt many people on this forum fall into the category of being very wealthy, so why should you be against the idea?

And if you ARE very wealthy, then you should pay up a little bit more money. Do not be greedy, if you care about America it seems as though you would not mind paying a little bit more of your riches to help the USA prosper.

The rich are ones who can afford it. Low income workers in America are simply unable to take on any more expenses. They are already stretched to the limits financially, and they are already paying quite a lot of taxes. Taxes must come from SOMEWHERE, the rich have gotten lots of new tax breaks over the past few decades. We must start taxing them more once again. Bring it back to where it was at around the 70s and 60s.

So.... why shouldn't the rich be taxed more?
But...but...but Sean Hannity says we need rich people to create jobs for China and India, so they can take our jobs and then...well...I'm not certain what exactly...

The fact is, taxes must come from somewhere. Where do you think they should come from? How do you suggest the USA pays for all of it's infrastructure and services? Tell me your plan.
are you kidding?

please do not confuse state taxes and federal taxes.

I am strictly talking federal taxes. The federal gov't should not be involved with 99% of the stuff they currently are doing. Thus we can lower federal revenue by 99% by getting rid of their unconstitutional and socialistic departments and agencies.

The money they need for that 1% left over (like military and supreme court and salaries for politicians) can be paid easily by tariffs that are already in place.

When you think taxes, you probably think they go to pay for your roads and parks... but those are from State taxes.. most commonly the sales tax. Which is not what any of this conversation has to do with, since we are talking about federal income tax.

The sad thing is that you sound almost like some people on this forum. Americuns don't like to read much apparently.

Really? It takes money to run a government? Who knew??

Oh, I'll tell you who knew: your average taxpayer as they watch government wrap its talons around 6.2 TRILLION dollars of our money every year. That's nearly half our GDP, more than any time in history except WWII. How much is enough, CaliforniaBear? Or is there ever enough?

Pillaging and plundering overseas? What the great wide-open hell are you talking about?

I do agree with you here.

But doing this would require a revolution. This will NOT happen unless there is another 1776 style revolt against the gov. because right now the federal gov. is growing faster than ever before and it is absolutely enormous.

Otherwise, taxing the rich sounds like the second best plan. The American people are too lazy and apathetic for a revolt.

So what are you gonna do about it? You ready to revolt against the government or what? If you aren't ready for that, then sit down and accept what's happening.

Unless we revolt against the government and bring a real change, taxing the rich is the only way.

But then again, the rich will just continue to find tax loopholes anyway. The entire tax law needs to be re-written
