Reconciliation is allowed in budgetary matters, which the obamacare boondoggle does not represent.
The left leaning Democrats don't understand about that rule but someday they might learn about it.

Libermann has said clearly that he will vote to get it to the floor;speak in opposition to the public option and vote aginst the bill if it gets to the floor vote. In fact several other democrats have said they woludn't support the publc option. Rememeber that Baucus was for the option then said thier is not the support needed and dropped it from his bill

You are so right but some of these lefty posters just can't stop and look long enough to see what the score really is.

We understand about the RULE. We also understand the RULE can be changed, suspended, waived or tossed in the trash (as it should be in my view) with 51 votes. The Republicans were going to toss it over the Democrats holding up judicial appointments of Bush.

Maybe you need to say that Clinton's people had mashed the CIA into the form they were in when the attack on the Twin Towers came. Obama has them pretty well smashed down to the same place now. I think that if you were to take a real look at that balanced budget it was done with Social Security "surplus" which wasn't real. Both those budgets that were balanced for Clinton were done on that fake surplus. Politicians of either party have been willing for years to spend that money that seemed to be surplus but should have been put away for future use. Clinton's ending years were so great because the Republicans had him moving with them instead of the Dems. He was not a dummy and did what it took to look good.

Then let's bring it to the floor and have a vote. Let's see who our friends are and who the big insurance and pharma friends are.

Do you suppose that the Republicans could get the Dems to throw that thing out by holding up on judge appointments? They sure need to but I don't think they will.

The Public option has strong support in CT so he sure as hell isn't representing his constituents very well on this....

Perhaps, but keep in mind that voting for cloture isn't the same as voting for the bill. If you look back at some of the Senate votes of the last few years you will find quite a few bills that got the 60 votes for cloture, but got less than that on the final bill. Not saying that this will happen in this case, but its a possibility, especially with the likes of Snowe & Nelson who have done this on several occasions over the last several years

The GOP doesn't have the votes to hold up the judge appointments as Collins and Snowe would be very unlikely to join the GOP on holding up judges.
