Lack of balance in a Faux News report?...What a surprise. You better watch it Shep, the wingnuts are not going to be happy about this.

Quote:
Fox News' Shepard Smith felt the urge to apologize for the lack of balance in a story on the airwaves of the same cable news channel that brazenly promotes a conservative agenda.

The normally unflappable Smith grew irritated when correspondent Shannon Bream interviewed the Republican candidate for New Jersey governor Chris Christie without giving equal time to Democrat opponent John Corzine.

While I understand that news stations are biased to some extent. And thats inevitable. There are a few individuals that go above and beyond in their biases. Especially individuals that encourage conspiracy theories, or consistently report lies or distortions as news. Many people believe what they hear from this fake news channels, and it heavily forms their own opinions. This irresponsible behavior, while entertaining, doesn't fix our problems, it just creates a wedge between the people of this country. And the hatred and distrust this heavily biased reporting on supposedly "news" channels creates, could have dire consequences

These individuals are not good for the country, and there should be some sort of regulatory act that can block them or fine them very heavily, to maybe curb this sort of behavior from continuing. But it isn't going to happen because people are so afraid that it might infringe on the freedom of the press, or freedom of speech. I'm sorry, any news organization that gives any credibility to things like the 9/11 conspiracy, birthers, obama is a secret communist, or obama is a secret muslim.

The FCC should slap a million bucks on those news organizations everytime any of these things are brought up in a way on national television that isn't immediately shot down is utter stupidity. Stupidity can exist on the internet(and does).

Smith is definitely the most straight up host on Fox News by a long shot. He puts really puts Hannity, Cavuto and Beck to shame.

I totally agree.. I really appreciate Smith apologizing, he has many times himself called out people like Glenn Beck on his show. I believe he is someone interested in actually presenting the news, and not playing silly games to try to make his party look better. His opinions are well thought-out and sincere.

Smith is a news reporter. The others do opinion shows. I do think he does a good job though.

Can you cite any news report on Fox that gave credibiity to truthers, birthers, obama being a secret communist or muslim? I'm referring to news, not commentary programs.

I don't see the need for an apology. It looks like they got Christie coming out of an event, and said that the invitation to Corzine was out there. A simple statment to that fact, with an actual follow up with Corzine would be sufficient.

I bet Corzine is acting like all the dems and avoiding the only channel that will actually challenge the Democrat Party, and as a bonus, Shep Smith insulted the company who pays his mortgage!

Look for Shep to be one of the 14 billion jobs that Obama has NOT created or saved with economic stimulus.
