I have little patience for rap in general, and I have even less when white kids are involved, but what I absolutely will not stand for is a citation being issued for not speaking in an acceptable way. Toss this one out on grounds it violates the First Amendment. They may speak in whatever manner they like, to include rapping.
This is ridiculous. I guess I'd better be careful the next time I order "two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun".
What the hell is this world coming to when kids are cited by the police for ordering food at a fast food joint in a "non-standard" way, as if they were disturbing the public? Unbelievable.
Never been to Utah, but it looks like an outdoor activity paradise.
Check this article too. The 18yo was found not guilty, but apparently there was an F-bomb in the rap...
MCDONALDS RAP ORDER: Utah teen not charged for rapping McDonald's order - KSTU (http://www.fox13now.com/news/local/kstu-mcdonalds-rapping-teen-not-guilty,0,5689507.story - broken link)
The kids are dorks but the retaurants employees probably went too far in getting their license number and having the police get involved.
You just tell them to move along if they don't want to order. If they continued to do the stupid rap song and blocked other patrons, then I guess they were creating a disturbance and could be cited. If thats what happened then I guess they were justified in what they did.
Teenagers are idiots. But they could do worse than just being annoying at a fast food place. I remember we did some stupid annoying things at the drive thru when we were young. You've seen adults go ballistic and ape $@#% violent when they don't get their lemonade or chicken nuggets on You Tube.
