Give him credit. At least he was a conservative who recognized and ADMITTED his affliction. If he quarantines himself and gets some professional help, there may be some hope for this one.
While I think it's good he resigned, it's a shame the couple (who found another JOP to marry them) are still going ahead with their lawsuit. Looks like they want a cash award to pay for a honeymoon. I agreed with their suit in that he helped to bring this case to light and in the hopes of correcting this man's current and past behavior. Now that he's resigned in disgrace, there's really no need for this lawsuit to go any further.
That doesn't make sense...he committed the deed...crawling away on his belly doesn't change that.
So what would filing such a lawsuit get them? They've already won and they've gotten married. If they could find charges to file against him then that's different. He turned them down and gave the the name of another JOP who would marry them. What're they going to get out of him now, blood from a rock?
Did I misread the article? He was elected in 1975, and his term wasn't over until 2014???? How long are the terms for justices of the peace in Louisiana??? He did state that he wasn't planning on running for re-election, and if he had served out his term, he would have been justice of the peace for 40 years?????
