The reason is these 1,000 page bills come up for a vote too soon and the party leaders try to dictate to their members which way to vote.

^ Haha, and to answer this idiot John Conyers... why doesn't he have 2 lawyers and 2 days if that all it takes? Isn't Obama administration trying to create jobs anyway? Looks like 2 new jobs right there... or at least 1 new job to replace Conyers, right?

YouTube - Congressman John Conyers: "Why Read The Bill?"

That said, why the hell do we have so many people in congress that don't read bills anymore?
Because special interest groups get their hands on them and ramps them up to 1,990 pages, like the current HR 3962 health care bill. That's how changes are made without the public, or even most of Congress, knowing about it.

Case in point... the prohibition against health care rationing has been removed from the health care bill:
Prohibition against rationing removed from health care bill

How many people know about that?

Inhofe: I'll Vote Against Reform Without Reading Bill

Hypocracy rears its ugly head I see...

Just a few weeks ago John Conyers was out stumping FOR a bill that he said he didnt have TIME to read.

How about you find an acutual argument that doesnt include liberal hypocracy?

And why would someone need to read a bill costing tax payers 1.2 TRILLION dollars (not including the 250 BILLION Doctors fix that will be a seperate bill) considering the level of deficit spending we have already gotten ourselves into?

geez.

While I would love to agree with you about special interests dirtying up the process..... in the case of the previous HC bill that Conyers was talking about and this new House Bill, it aint the Special Interest that are the problem.... it is the dems themsleves that wrote these massive bills.

Interesting... the Dems want to take over health care, and won't prohibit health care rationing...

well, if this was acutally about healthcare that would be interesting.

considering that this is about CONTROL and Democrats taking CONTROL over 1/6th of the Amerian economy... it isnt interesting it is SCARY....

and while this bill isnt a single payer system, lets not forget that every major player on the left (The Obama included) has stated they really want a single payer system but we have to get there one step at a time.
