This bill passed Congress because Obama bribed the AMA and AARP to support the bill. Don't like the word "bribed"? Well, then, he really SWEETENED the pot. They smelled money, and they followed their noses.

One promise was to the AMA - the government would not cut payments to doctors under Medicare/Medicaid. The other was to the AARP - the elimination of Advantage plans which Bush signed into law to enable seniors to get supplemental coverage at lower rates. Most seniors can't afford AARP rates. Thus, AARP's major competition is eliminated, assuring them of huge profits from those seniors who find a way to buy AARP supplemental plans. The rest will be forced to fall back on plain Medicare. Either way, costs for all seniors go up.

These endorsements are not freely given, but bought and paid for by an administration that is intent on passing its program at any cost.

Do I hear a faint echo of something that sounds like "you will be able to keep the coverage you now have if you are happy with it" ? It's fading away...I must have dreamed that.

Oh, and to those who might still be wondering whether Congress will buy into the same plan that we will have to take - no, they are the only ones who are ensured of being able to keep the plan they have because "they are happy with it."

This is a good analysis of what the votes "means".

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Is this the high-water mark for ObamaCare?

Quote:
The Democrats wheedled, cajoled, begged, and finally abandoned its defense of abortion — truly a watershed moment — in order to get their version of ObamaCare passed … in the House of Representatives, where they enjoy a 75-seat majority. In the end, they could only muster a five-vote win on Nancy Pelosi’s bill out of that strong majority. Until this week, most had assumed that any ObamaCare bill would pass the House easily, but that the fight would be in the Senate.

While the bill will slash Medicare funding, it will also direct billions of dollars to numerous inner-city social work and diversity programs with vague standards of accountability.

• Sec. 399V (p. 1422) provides for grants to community "entities" with no required qualifications except having "documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers" to "educate, guide, and provide experiential learning opportunities" aimed at drug abuse, poor nutrition, smoking and obesity. "Each community health worker program receiving funds under the grant will provide services in the cultural context most appropriate for the individual served by the program."

These programs will "enhance the capacity of individuals to utilize health services and health related social services under Federal, State and local programs by assisting individuals in establishing eligibility . . . and in receiving services and other benefits" including transportation and translation services.

• Sec. 222 (p. 617) provides reimbursement for culturally and linguistically appropriate services. This program will train health-care workers to inform Medicare beneficiaries of their "right" to have an interpreter at all times and with no co-pays for language services.

• Secs. 2521 and 2533 (pp. 1379 and 1437) establishes racial and ethnic preferences in awarding grants for training nurses and creating secondary-school health science programs. For example, grants for nursing schools should "give preference to programs that provide for improving the diversity of new nurse graduates to reflect changes in the demographics of the patient population." And secondary-school grants should go to schools "graduating students from disadvantaged backgrounds including racial and ethnic minorities."

• Sec. 305 (p. 189) Provides for automatic Medicaid enrollment of newborns who do not otherwise have insurance.

Oh .. I can just smell the abuse that this new presumed healthcare program is going to suffer ..

This thing has already been gamed, and if you think it will only cost 1.5 trillion over 10 years .. think again.

If you think Social Security and Medicare are bankrupt, just really read this trash .. it makes Social Security and Medicare look like just another walk in the park.
Yeah, this bill reaks of UN-accountability, UN-constitutionality and its basically, a blank checkbook for the govt. to reap enormous amounts of money and gain a level of control over the people....not seen since slavery!
It reaks of Partisanship, FRAUD, deceit and pork!

IT is FORCED onto US with such an urgency......I 'spose Illegal Immigration reform, SS, Medicare, Job creation, War in Afghanistan.....are ALL:
Not much of a concern at all....with Obama/Dems....just this HC "reform" getting passed and his signature on it!

AND....all this, despite Obam's ties and association with ACORN, SEIU, Van Jones, radicals (Apollo Alliance) and other Capitalist/America-HATERS.

You forgot one, this was also payback to the unions, who cant wait to unload their tens of billions of healthcare liabilities off onto the taxpayers. (GM for example).. Taxpayers, how are you going to like GIVING GM to the unions while we pay for it?

I will look at your links also. "glitter dazzle"
seven of nine, here's the section relative to employer responsibilities. Starts with Sec. 801- 806. It won't take you that long and it's probably best to go to the source and a "glitter dazzle" back to you.

Seems some on the Left are very unhappy.

Lee Stranahan: Kucinich's Brave Health Vote Vs. Obama's Failed Promise

Quote:
The unsung hero of the night was Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich. Despite enormous pressure to support H.R. 3962, Rep. Kucinich did the right thing and voted 'no'.

Personally, I supported President Obama in the primaries and the election but do not support him on this corporate giveaway built on broken campaign promises. I voted for the Barack Obama who opposed the individual mandate, who said the negotiations would be televised on C-SPAN and who campaigned against backroom deals with PhARMA.
Hmmmm....what happened to those promises?

Sums it up very well.
Good post!

And....you are correct.
They DID say that anyone could keep their present coverage if they are happy with it, but they fail to mention........that coverage WILL likely END soon enough when YOUR health insurer.....is put OUT of business by the Govt. and you are only left with their ONE "option."

I thought "option" meant OPTIONAL........but what other option will there be when the insurance industry is obliterated by a VERY BIG, powerful and oppressive Govt?

The government health "option".......can NEVER go bankrupt like Medicare, Amtrak, SS and about EVERY other business venture the govt. desires to "invest" your tax dollars in because they also have the printing press at their disposal and can print all the worthless US currency they want to keep their dream alive!

Enjoy your HC "reform" DUMB-o-crats.......YOU asked for it!
I only hope IT DIES on the Senate floor!

This is particularly interesting as well, when looked at with regard to how bankrupt this will be within 5 years of being implemented;

SEC. 101.(h)(2) -- INSUFFICIENT FUNDS- If the Secretary estimates for any fiscal year that the aggregate amounts available for payment of expenses of the high-risk pool will be less than the amount of the expenses, the Secretary shall make such adjustments as are necessary to eliminate such deficit, including reducing benefits, increasing premiums, or establishing waiting lists.

Oh sure ... of course there won't be any waiting lists or added costs /sarcasm ...

This clause alone will quite effectively control our population by ridding us of most with cancer in the quickest possible way ..

The Dem's are really going to own this one.
