Heaven knows that, for the most part, I am no fan of George W. Bush. However, as a citizen, and as a mother of a soldier, I do appreciate the fact that President and Mrs. Bush visited our soldiers at Fort Hood last night. No fanfare. No photo ops. They just went and visited with the soldiers. Thank you both.

That was so appropriate of the Bushes. As former gov of the state and as a former commander-in-chief, I am so glad he quietly went and sat with the families. I couldn't sleep well last nite thinking about the horror for all the families that have been affected. I never dreamed such a thing could happen at Ft. Hood. That is where our son was stationed. Really upsetting.

Bush did that throughout his 8 years...he would quietly visit injured troops, meet with families, no press.

I loved his surprise Thanksgiving visit to Iraq.

The press is going to be there for photos because he is the President!

I would think they would visit being they live just 30 minutes away! LOL!

Just wanted to add that they are very gracious people.

I too am glad they visited. I wish MORE could be done for the spirit of those at Fort Hood and those hurt by this horrible event.
Why turn this into a political hatred thing.
Service people were killed and maimed senselessly, at a place where they had good reason to think they were safe. Someone who was meant to heal their emotional wounds turned a gun on THEM rather then himself.

This is not about Democrat or Republican, this is about murder and the people who are left behind. Have a little respect.

Wrong. The only photographer that has to be there is the White House Photographer. Every other photographer is at the behest of the President.
