'We better not see you on again,' the strategist says he was told by a White House official. The White House communications director denies that officials urge such a boycott.

At least one Democratic political strategist has gotten a blunt warning from the White House to never appear on Fox News Channel, an outlet that presidential aides have depicted as not so much a news-gathering operation as a political opponent bent on damaging the Obama administration.

Although it's a bit disconcerting to read that news, I also believe that the President and his staff have a right to deny interviews to whomever they wish.

They can refuse an interview but they can't dictate to others not to do an interview. Freedom of Speech kind of gets in their way doesn't it.

The administration's position: we don't like you so we're taking our ball and going home. Aside from the mileage Fox news can make from this Fox doesn't care really. Why should they? They're bigger than the White House.

I agree, it appears however they are threatening those who do not work for the WH. That is out of bounds.

I'm a liberal, and I completely disagree with this. It's one thing for the WH to refuse interviews, but it is over the line to essentially threaten an independent person in that way. Am I missing something? Is this strategist contracted with the WH? If this person is truly a private citizen, then their behavior is unacceptable.

I think we heard you the first time, but I don't understand your point. Are you saying that they work for the American people, so they should have to grant interviews to anyone and everyone? How about the monthly KKK Newsletter or The Jim Crow Fan Club?

As someone who once got in trouble for talking at a city council meeting, I'd say your employer can tell you not to do an interview. I worked for a public health dept at that time. They made my life hell, and apparently they were within their rights.
