Within a week of the pageant Ms. Prejean became a spokesperson for an advocacy group seeking to deny equal protection under the law. This isn't a case of a person being persecuted for her private religious beliefs.

Even within Christianity there is no uniformity of opinion on all subjects. As an example, there are severe disagreements on the role of women and the treatment of the LGBT community. Practicing tolerance for an individual's religious views is not limited to those of other faiths.

Ms. Prejean has the right to say how she feels about marriage. Regardless of how some people might feel about her religious beliefs. I'm a Liberal and I truly believe she was targeted. I also don't agree with some Muslim as well as Christians that hide behind their religion for killing innocent people.

What get's me is that Conservatives believe that they are the party of God. And we all know that is not true.

And this is the crux of the whole thread. You judge ONE person's post and make huge generalizations of people you think are like them. The post wasn't an "answer". You don't know if they were a liberal. And then, in your version of what amounts to irrational extremism, you raise the idea that a liberal ideology is genetic! Your post is nothing but an insult and shows everyone else the kind of person you are. Now, tell me, where is the intelligence in YOUR response?

I thought Prejean's answer to the question asked was laudable and I had no problem with it even though I'm gay myself. While the attacks may have started from that moment, it's everything she's done since then that completely makes her worthless in my eyes. I can respect an opposing view provided that it's not contradictory with other expressed views. Prejean has two faces.

I don't condemn Islam any more than I condemn Christianity but I'll more often condemn Christians because I'm surrounded by them and I know much more what kinds of people they can become. I don't defend any act of true terrorism, but then, I feel I should be able to decide whether an act is terrorism or not. Sometimes murder is just murder.

Prejean is being dragged through the mud because she is a liar and a hypocrite. She did pornography....she shot topless photos and a sex tape. But that's right...the photographer took the photos when she wasn't looking (as she was looking into the camera)

They are 2 totally different things. Prejean was criticized for being a hypocrite. She preaches Christian values, but apparently doesn't follow them with her actions. I've never lumped her with all Christians, and called them all hypocrites.

No one defends terrorists. I only defend the right of people in this country to follow whatever religion they want, and I have a brain, so I realize that most Muslims in this country are peaceful people, and are not out to kill anyone.

Did I miss the part where Prejean campaigned against posing for pictures? If she did, then I'll go along with the hypocrisy claim. Otherwise I would be assuming to know her views without evidence. I haven't followed her much but unless she's married to another woman, I'm not sure I'll call her a hypocrite.

One day she's talking about the Lord and the next day she's shooting naked photos. Don't you get it?

You let me know when God gives the go-ahead on pornography and lying.

So you assume all Christians share the exact same beliefs? There are many that would see no problem with pornography with consenting adults.

I'm a liberal...but above that I am a born again Christian whose faith is the most important thing in my life. I don't defend terrorism on behalf of ANY religion....including Islam. I do defend the right of people to worship as they please...in a peaceful, non-violent way....in America because I support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
