Wow. That reminds me of a show I saw once or twice. Don't remember what it was called or exactly what it was about, but they'd put people in certain situations to see how they'd react.
Like finding someone else's cell phone in the back of a cab, or joking about a short person's height. Pretty sure it was some type of game show. In the latter case, two people (including the true contestant) are in the room when the dwarf walks in, and the assistant posing as a contestant would joke about him winning a "little" money and so forth. And try to elicit some sort of response from the real contestant.
Every sneeze does not mean a person is sick, we sneeze for many reasons and sneezing into ones sleeve is recommended.
Is it a good idea to eat out? Probably not, it costs too much and the food is high in salt and fat plus servings are too large..Will most of us continue to eat out? Of course, it is one of our pleasures. The good thing, God forbid, it any of us get Swine Flu we will never know where it came from so we can't blame that young lady that sneezed..
This morning I was in the supermarket...The cashier sneezed..into her sleeve.
I stood there thinking "Why can't a supermarket provide tissues to their cashiers....Or. why doesn't the cashier have the brains to carry tissues? She's dealing with the public.
But then it gets worse...I go to a restaurant for a take out - the person taking the orders and bagging them, sneezes into her sleeve, then reaches over and wipes her nose with the sleeve...
For crying out loud!...Helloooo!..Restaurant owners...How about teaching your 19 year old workers some basic manners?...Or healthy practices?
This is crazy...Maybe we should just stay at home, making our own food...And carrying our own boxes of tissues to give the little jerks at the supermarket registers a hint of basic health practices, or cleanliness.
it is indeed considered the recommended way to stop the spread of germs from sneezing and coughing by sneezing and coughing into the crook of your elbow/sleeve.
Using tissues actually increases the spread of germs as most people don't wash their hands after using a tissue. Nor do the aim so well into the tissue and allow germs to spread around it and onto hands and into the air.
Since when are tissues made of bullet proof material?
My favorite lately are the people who are old enough to know better, who don't even bother covering their mouths and noses with anything at all!
A little paranoia by just a few, with access to political forums and/or media, will increase the chances of a supposed epidemic many-fold. I will still go out to eat, go to the store, go outside my humble abode. I will still live, but I will also protect myself.

You should check out the Food and Drink forum for the thread talking about how high end restaurants charge people an arm and a leg to eat there, and they don't provides enough food to fill anyone up.

sneezing into a tissue probably doesn't help a lot unless the person immediately goes to wash their hands. but I share your frustration.

Which is why my presence never darkens those rip-offs. When I go out to eat, I want my money's worth.
