Yes, a civil trial is the only way to bring the actual perps to justice.

If you think torture was bad, wait till you get a load of justice.

No.

They were apprehended as a result of military operations so military justice should be the venue. Also a civil court will allow them Constitutional protections which they most certainly do not deserve. Of course if you support the terrorists you'll be all for trying them in a civil court.

Yes. They committed criminal acts on American soil. The Federal Court in NY has plenty of experience trying terrorists and getting guilty verdicts. These scum need to be tried in the light of day so everyone in this nation can feel a sense of closure, most especially those directly affected.

The military operates under the control and command of civil authority, the President.

What difference does it make? They were arrested by CIA in a country which is a US ally, and now they they are being brought to justice. We are seeking the death penalty so why cares what style of court we use?

It's typical partisan bickering from the Obama haters part to oppose everything just for the sake of opposing. No one has offered a good reason to explain why it is a bad idea. Giluliani goes public to repeat the right-wing lines about how this will be used as a terrorist recruiting tool. What???? Why would a civilian court be a better recruiting tool than a military court?? The military court in Gitmo has managed to convict a whopping three terrorists in eight years while releasing over six hundred.

Greeting's,

The military tribunals were and are the only correct procedure for this matter.

It may well develop into an idiotic "Media Circus" if and when these particular notorious defendants
reach the so called American civilian court.

This may well be a definitive and defining moment for the criminal justice system.

May we have high hopes as Americans that our legal folks don't "Blow" this
one !

Thanks / Lamar

Well, I guess the debate is over. Lamar says that tribunal is the only correct course of action.
I don't see why, though.
They are not part of a uniformed military force.
They attacked and killed thousands of civilians.
They should be tried in a civilian court.

Why are so many people afraid of having them here?
True there are the occassional fumbles by our criminal justice system, but not so much that I've completely lost faith in our judicial system.
They chose to attack America based on our way of life.
What better justice than to have them answer to our laws?

Not sure why this is continually brought up. Who's afraid of having them here? People are pissed because these scumbags don't deserve a civil trail. Let the military justice system finish them off.

The media circus that the civilian trial will be nothing more than another means for the OBL network to advance their message worldwide.
