Do you think that NASA will get extra funding now water has been confirmed on the moon in reasonable quantities?

NASA are intimately tied up in government projects. How can the government refuse to give them the funding they need to go/return to the Moon?

Like some other people out there, I cannot help feeling that NASA knew all along that there was water on the Moon. It was only a matter of when and where they disclosed this information to the population in a carefully controlled way so as not to cause too much alarm and investigation.

I think there should be an investigation into why we have been told all along by NASA that the Moon was a dry, desolate and lifeless place.

In the last week or so, it has been confirmed that there is water up there, but if they have not told us before about this - What else haven't they told us I wonder?

Some folks just NEED to turn everything into some type of conspiracy theory.

Investigate what? Indeed they suspected that there was water there. All along? not so much. Once upon a time they thought the moon was made of cheese also, further investigation proved otherwise. So all they have done is confirm their suspicions. We need to investigate that?

As for what else they havent told us, whatever else is stranded upon the surface of the moon, is of little consequence compared to what they're not telling you about what's going on in your own backyard. If people would pay more attention to the nation's issues, rather than being distracted by what's happening in outer space, we might be able to afford to get back to the moon and investigate in the first person at some later date.

I always thought Armstrong should have said, "I claim this land in the name of America," when he got out of the lunar lander. The USA could have divided the moon into states and although they would have a population and GDP of 0 they would make the USA be the largest nation in the world. If only...

I don't know if it is a waste of time and money or not, but there are very few places where man can reasonably expected to establish extra-terrestrial bases. To me establishing bases/colonies on the moon or mars are about on the same par since travel beyond our solar system are out of the question even if we were able to devise some system of propulsion that could attain speeds anywhere near the speed of light.

"We came in peace for all mankind" shows a bit more class.

No "comming in peace" for us. More like: "get the hell out of our way, we're taking it all because it's ours!"

Hey, it's the human way...

But yea, we need to spread out into space before we exhaust the world's resources and all starve to death.
