It ain't all that complicated.
If the market went down last year - that's HISTORY and NOTHING can be done about it. This year the market is heading back UP.

THAT is something to be happy about.

And the Obamabashers have been saying that for what - 8 months now?

LOL

You must be counting on the old saying "even a broken clock is right twice a day."

Sorry, but you folks' predictive track record is pretty bad - so I see no reason to trust it now.

It took many years for the housing bubble to burst. There does seem to be a certain amount of irrational exuberance in the market.

If it was worth $2000 when I originally invested, and was down to $1000 in March, but now is back to $1,500, that is reason to celebrate.

It means I now have $500 more than I did in March, when I was taking a much larger beating!

It also means I made the right decision, and didn't sell at the bottom.

I don't make predictions, but what makes you so sure last March was the bottom? Just saying.

According to your definition what you've done is gained back some of your loss. So right now you've lost less than you had lost before. However, you still have less than you started with.

Hopefully for you this ridiculous market will become even more ridiculous and soon you'll be able to say you've gained back all your losses and now show a profit.
Let me help you out here ....

My portfolio has been up a lot since March .... and I am EXTREMELY happy !!!

Because nearly all economic signs indicate that we are in a recovery, and there is nothing on the horizon to indicate otherwise.
