I don't know but I'm noticing it more and more IRL too. They don't even realizing they are lying even when they are exaggarating claims or spinning the facts and when I call them on it they get all pissy or just sort of stop talking about it. But most people don't call them on it and that's why our country is so stupid.

I posted the EXACT title of the article as it appeared on Yahoo. The real question is why people like you defend stupidity in the name of partisanship.

Yep what ever those fools in Ca come up with trickles on down

Getting harder to find a chainsaw with out all the Ca restrictors on it . Zapes the power because of the exhaust system . So buy a new saw and have to get it rebuilt before you got one worth using Even lawn mowers .

It isn't unreasonable to require companies to meet specific power settings. Some of those 50" TVs are much more efficient than others. Some of those 50" displays use 200% less power than competitors.
I'm quoting one article about the ban: "For example, all new 42-inch television sets must use less than 183 watts by 2011 and less than 116 watts by 2013."

I'm quite sure that unless you're talking about netbooks or very old school computers, newer computers with Intel / AMD dualcore and beyond with any 3D hardware acceleration will consume more than the ban limits. That may not be the case only if they are idle.

Heck, some video cards consume more power than the limits! You'll say "well, how many computers with those cards are out there?" Precisely! How many >54" mega plasma TVs are sold? I would suspect not enough to warrant a ban.

BTW, 116 watts on a 42" TV will mean crappier looking pictures (way lower contrast) unless some technology miracle happens...

Oh, so that's you're excuse. They lied in their title so it's okay if you just ignore the content and repeat the lie. Got it.

When I click on that link, I get "Calif. requires TVs to be more energy efficient".
