Also being considered is a one way trip.

Believe it or not, there are people lined up for the opportunity.

Not right now unless we think there are Martians willing to pay off our debt or we're willing to hitch a ride with a Russian ship.

Space travel isn't about money, its about survival of the species.

Would you be concerned about money if a planet killing asteroid was headed for the Earth? Or a comet?

People are so short sighted in their thinking. If there is a threat, we react. We have brains capable of understanding that we are in constant threat of being whipped out, until we have viable colonies on other celestial bodies.

Just like healthcare, people don't want to pay for it, until they need it. Use a little thought, and understand that its not a matter of "if" you're going to need something, but WHEN.

Guess you don't have children then.

Hell, I even cared about the survival of the species when I didn't have children.

Oops, I thought this was about 1 trillion people going to Mars and I was going to ask if I could pick a few hundred.

City Data would look a lot different!
