Their only satisfaction is knowing some brown skinned kid is not getting any of their money...
Raising the racism issue is often a knee-jerk response in addressing America's problems when it may have nothing to do with it. Nobody wants to be a racist, so an argument may quickly get agreement.
You have to look at this issue:
A lot of these "brown-skinned" kids are children of illegals or grandchildren of them. The UC system is overburdened and overstretched, just like the public schools. I'm not saying the children do not deserve access to education. I'm just saying, this is what has happened.
If what you say is true, then all other states with the state university system would also be bankrupt. But they aren't.
How long did California residents think they could just subsidize and not have to pay it back ?
There's been a mass exodus of people from California..taking what little money they have left and fleeing for less costly states.
Who's left there to foot the bill ? Someone has to pay for the subsidies. It boggles the mind sometimes that people think free money just comes from "nowhere" and is given to them.
Is this how Calif will become a 3rd world country? I can see it happening.
California usually leads the nation in many things. With other state budgets now feeling the pain, I wonder if this is an inkling of what's to come in other states across the nation ?
The funny thing is that most of these people rioting most likely voted for Obama. It's hilarious to see them want something then not like it when they get it and riot.
The tuition hikes started in 2004 (I was the first class to have to go through that)...under Bush.
Why not? I think that it should be free. I don't think we should restrict people the opportunities that come with an advanced degree simply because they came from a background in which they lack the resources...
